Now a BBC interview that’s going to be shown on the Laura Kuenssberg show this morning.

Can they keep doing these interviews while under investigation by the NCA?

Does she honestly think she can play victim and rehabilitate her reputation. She is delusional, her name is literally toxic in Scotland and no doubt most of the UK. She deserves actual jail time.
Wow that interview was so bad, they just wanted to help but cleared a massive 30% profit, fuckers…and her face didn’t move once, I had to gauge her emotions through her voice 😬

Doug - "well...PPE prices went up 5x during the Pandemic....."
In other words...Chelle...chelle..we need to get in on this money-maker...aye Dougie babes...we'll make a bleeping killing for providing nothing...

Doesn't seem like the right time to increase tax so much for those earning over 75k.

Thousands of Scots face income tax hike as SNP introduce new 45p 'advanced rate' and put a penny on the top band as Humza Yousaf's government scrambles to fill £1.5billion hole in spending plans
Hopefully the final nail in the SNP coffin. But the stupidity of voters never fails to astound so who knows...

75k might be a lot for someone who bought their house ages ago for buttons. But it doesn't really get that far these days if you're looking to buy.

Nordic levels of tax with a shocking low level of services. The idea it's targeting the wealthy who won't notice is ridiculous.

The kind of professionals that get that wage will see Scotland as even less appealing.

of course they will! and the possibility of companies upping sticks and leave too!

I hope we are seeing the SNP downfall.
yip totally!

Tax hikes for the people that nobody will feel sorry for. These people will have built their life around their income and will likely have larger houses that they may not be able to afford and may not be able to afford to sell.
not just being able to afford to sell but finding buyers may prove tough

Many were mildly annoyed about a tiny bit higher tax in Scotland Vs England, this is a whole new level.

Although the collapse in the SNP might help some investment as it makes Scotland look more stable.

I'm shocked at how many people are 'high' earners and I mean this genuinely. The amount of people I know who seemingly will be affected by this seems to be loads.

I do often wonder how people afford their lifestyles but I guess that tells me how 😅 if theyre earning that.

We are the sort of squeezed middle. Not in excess of 75k but still paying back student loans (not me but OH is due to not being educated in Scotland) and v high pension contributions means that whats in your bank feels v little compared to your gross pay.

Apparently it's 5% that get hit by the new taxes.

What's the general sentiment in Scotland? Usually people are keen for rich people to be taxed more, and by rich people they usually mean anyone earning more than them  . So 95% may be happy about it. But these things have big knockon effects, it's not like it taxes the mega rich who will carry on paying next to no tax.

I honestly couldnt give 2 fucks and Im not an SNP die hard by any manner of means. Its so far removed from my life that I cant bring myself to care. Maybe that makes me selfish 🙈

I dont really benefit from alot of the Scottish exclusives like extra payments for carers (not in receipt of Carer' s Allowance) the child payment (not on means tested benefit) free bus travel (too old or not old enough to benefit) prescriptions (couldnt tell you the last time I was even at the doctor nevermind a prescription) free higher education (I did benefit from this and I guess my kids may do at some point - I also dont know any of my peers who couldnt get into university in Scotland however I appreciate that is anecdotal) dont use the free breakfast club (both WFH so dont need it) did maybe use the free school meals for p1 to p5 when biggest caffeine fiend was in primary. Littlest caffeine fiend will not eat anything at school I dont provide so again not something we personally benefit from. Baby boxes (wont be having any more kids, for definate!!)

However I can see the benefit in a lot of those things and for the tax band we are both in I dont have a gripe with it. Guess I may be in the minority though.

Are things tighter for us financially than they have been, probably but I feel its the same for everyone at the moment. There are definitely things I could cut back on if I had to. I do have cloth to cut whereas I can see others may not, regardless of what they earn.

My husband will be worse off to the tune of about £280 a year, but he did the maths wrong initially, worked it out as a couple of thousand and was ranting about it until he realised he was out by quite a large margin. Now he knows it's less than £25 a month he's not bothered.

BIB Without a Universal Basic Income isn't that everyone does? Your income influences your access to housing, transport, employment and even where you shop.
