Just saw this comment on her latest IG.

'I know you're being totally transparent in your post about ads, affiliate links etc and it makes me sad because of the horrendous time you've been having with online trolling nastiness....you have always been truthful and transparent and the extra level of effort you make to reinforce this shouldn't be necessary'.

Oh. Dear. Where do you begin?
It wasn't signed 'Sx' btw - I double checked.

Worshipping an influencer for following ASA guidelines

If she was so #totallyhonest she would have been open about declaring gifted items prior to the ASA guidelines changing ie until she had to.

It’s worrying when someone’s first reaction is to make it about themselves, several times over.

- person x died. Here’s an article she wrote about me
- it’s been x days since person x died. Here’s a photo someone took of us together at an event
- it was person x’s funeral. Here’s that photo again.

I’m not saying you can’t share memories and tell personal stories, of course. It’s more how the social media machine rewards people who are very very good at making it about themselves at every opportunity, to the point that the narcissism becomes second nature. And even non-digital natives have fallen into the black mirror.

I doubt it @Aude, found this in the sun today (while just searching for Tattle, I promise!) which just shows the media ploughing the furrows from seeds laid out by the "influencers"

Off to read the Times article.

Oh dear! It does only take a couple of unpleasant posts (or threads?) on Tattle for the whole thing to be damned.

I would still argue that it's no worse than the btl comments in the mainstream media. I mentioned upthread that the comments on a recent Telegraph article about Tina Brown included one saying they would like to slap a custard pie in her face. And that's by no means a one-off.

So true. Sali used to get pretty mean things said BTL in relation to the frivolity of beauty when real devastation was occurring in the world. Any female-authored article seems to get a disproportionate amount of negativity. Most of what is said in these threads is justifiable criticism of a person self-labelled as impartial, who has turned out to be bought by the highest bidder.

Apparently so. They scoured the 600'000 messages and found 1 that said they wanted to slap someone. Have they read their own comments section

Sali is digging her own grave by commenting on these pieces, drip by drip she'll get more people reading here.

"Dear Me,

I think you're wonderful.

Signed
Myself"

I apologise for going off topic but some of you may recall India Knight making a further twit of herself within hours of plotting to hunt us all down and set Eric on us in the wake of That Video.
Anyway Mr Harry Horton who mildly took the piss out of IK that night and who I stan is finishing his stint reporting from the USA for ITV's breakfast show.
Here is a picture of him with a woman with a cheese hat.

Amazing. IK's little corner of twitter is devoid of nastiness.

Tbf if The Sun thinks this place is awful we must be doing something right. If I didn't know about here, read the sensible comments they cited there (including one by @GTL Old-Timer!) I'd be over here like a bloody shot! As I suspect lots of others will do.

I'll just leave this here...
There's another relevant comment under the Sun article: 'I'm on a couple of different car forums [...] a few females but not too many, 98% blokes....... if you want to see the very worst of bitchiness, come join in.'

I imagine there are also sporting and other largely male forums where discussion is not always the most polite.

I liked how Grazia neatly addressed the gender issue

It’s easy to stereotype this sort of behaviour – which begins as bolstering and ends in dissent – as the innately feminine ‘bitching’. The sites that we’re talking about are mainly populated by women – interestingly, many former Mumsnet users migrated to Tattle Life when the site got too ‘dull’ – but it’s not necessarily a gendered issue. In fact, the truth of it is that, according to research by Pew, men are actually more active on internet forums than women overall. Rather – at least as recently as 2015 – women are more likely to use Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Let’s also remember that men ‘witch’ too, they’re just less likely to be defined by it.
