It also plays into the ‘sunk cost fallacy’. If you spend £££ on your face already you just keep going, throwing good money after bad to get some sort of result to justify all the expense. Some before & after shots that clinics post on Insta show such minimal ‘improvement’ it’s just not worth the cash.

And it's so inherently misogynistic on top, to keep women in this state of anxiety and insecurity about an immutable biological process, while men get to just cruise around being distinguished silver foxes. Makes my blood boil. And now there are whole generations raised on social media who believe overweening vanity and self-obsession is not only normal, but to be celebrated as feminist 🤬😤 For my generation, vanity was a weakness and you were kept in check by your peers if you "got a big head". Surely there is some middle ground to be had?
I am on the edge of simply unplugging, fully embracing my childless cat lady existence oblivious to all of it

He's trademarked this procedure/practice as Acuskinlift and according to SC its so pricy because only he can do it.

Dunno, guys, but it seems like a bit of a scam to me tbh. 🤷‍♀️🧐
I must find it, but in comments someone asked why it was so bloody expensive and Sam went into detail about about how Dr Snakeoil was so well trained and developed the method and was the only one to do it, then Nic Chapman posts something like 'but I'm sure the woman local to me does exactly this procedure' 😂

Science-backed ingredients and skincare procedures is a safe space to default back to. It’s annoying that often a regular woman has to become a bit of a nerd to sieve through the rubbish spewed out at customers, influencers at the forefront of this! As a middle-aged woman I want look good for my age, not younger. Having realistic expectations around ageing and what could be achieved through consistently good skincare routine/ treatments is key. I’m still to see one of those influencers like SH who with all the money and free treatments thrown at them, look anything by ‘done’.

When I saw She Here last week, she didn't look particularly young. She just looks like a petite, shiny 49 year old woman. I've seen Caroline Hirons a few times too and she doesn't look any younger than my friends of a similar age. These women have all the cosmetics & latest treatments available, but close up neither look any younger or better than their age would lead you to expect.
So true. Sam looks scary without the makeup. Really bad.

It’s a mentally robust person’s response. You have to be mentally in a good place to pull it off.
I would also say that it's a straightforward person's response.

SC became aware that there was gossip and critical comment about her on Tattle, including some inaccurate speculation. Her response? To come here to set out some facts about the matters being discussed and to say, in an undramatic way, that she minded when there was criticism of people she loved. Number of new Tattle threads afterwards: 0.

SH's response in a similar situation seems to have been, first, to seek to identify Tattlers individually through their social media (people who, btw, hadn't realised they needed to hide their identity) and, as she tells it, to show them that they had been 'seen' and then to block them. Second, when that 'stalking' was being commented on, to post an emotional statement on Instagram saying that she, and her family and friends, were victims of online bullying and trolling. Number of new Tattle threads afterwards: 62.

How different things would have been if, wanting to respond to here, she had simply said something like: 'Just to put the record straight...I haven't received any payment from Charlotte Tilbury...I don't know enough about the beauty industry bullying allegations to be able to comment but of course am opposed to bullying in any context...I'm not being secretive about getting Botox. I've mentioned it on more than one occasion...Of course I'm open to criticism but I mind when that extends to friends who don't have a public profile.'

Maybe SC learned from SH what not to do?

Yes Sali chooses to gloss over why she did her Tattle video. It was because she started stalking and emailing Tattlers, using info gleaned from her own forum (in the early days here posters were often naive, including myself, and would post things they had said on her forum. So v easy for Lauren to search and find this and then also our email addresses used to sign up for said forum, for Sali). This was reported to/picked up by Estee Laundry and Sali panicked and made that video making out she and her family felt scared and threatened.

Sam handled it all far better. On that podcast, ironically with Sali, she said she struggled with online criticism (not from here) but made peace with it by realising 'other people's opinions about me are none of my business'. Sali stayed very quiet when she said this.

He's a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). No idea what the training needs to be for it though.
A quick search for the cheapest online provider, and then access to a colour printer for the diploma?

It has a science gloss, I'd say that. It's not really science though. What the beauty industry call a 'clinical trial' just isn't - it's not peer reviewed, it's not even done to proper clinical standards. If there are proper trials done, it's for safety only (rather than results) of things like injectables, which need the safety standards to be licensed as medical treatments. If most beauty products did what they claimed, they'd need to be licensed as drugs. The patents that are purchased make products sound amazing, but you don't need any scientific proof to purchase a patent, which just protects an idea. It always makes me laugh when brands take influencers on tours, talk about 'science' and give them a lab coat with their name on it - it's like little girls dressing up. I seem to recall She Here is very fond of a gifted lab coat, as proof of 'the science' 😂

I can’t find him on the GMC register. If he’s a medical doctor, he’ll be there.

PhD, dentist or fake?
Quoting myself like a ninny but nothing on the GDC register either

Missed this! Probably as I don’t recall it being on the medical school curriculum.

He must have trained at the same august institution as “Dr” Gillian McKeith!
