He doesn’t like him coz he’s met him.
Thats what Russ says about Peter Kay.
I’d say it about Russ but I’ve not met him 🤷🏼‍♀️

"Hi Peter. God, it's always a bit awkward when you meet someone in, you know, the same line of work, isn't it? Listen, I'm preparing this tweet thread about the Tories, mind if I ask you for some help brainstorming? I think I might start with something about how they're all really posh and...Peter? Peter? Where are you going?"

Something doesn't sit right about his book launch.

His "publishers" are putting on an event are they? Unbound are a crowd-funding platform to deliver a product, they certainly don't host launch events. Russ has hired a room and wants you to go. At £15 a pop (plus Eventbrite fees) at The Grafton in Kentish Town, so one assumes he's hired the upstairs (100 capacity, 40 seated). Typical cost of hiring the room exclusively in an evening (6 - close) is £600 inc VAT, conveniently 40 x £15.

Doesn't sound like publishers putting on a launch to me. Captain Mingebeard has hired a room to stroke his vanity and everyone else can pay for it.

Aren’t room hires like this usually just deposits to make sure a minimum spend is met, so he could actually be profiting from it…?

This was ages ago and appreciate the pandemic has left the hospitality industry in ruins - but years and years ago two colleagues did a joint 40th & they had to put down a £3k deposit for the upstairs of a central London pub that they’d lose if they didn’t meet a minimum drinks spend? Idk if it was £3k or higher but it was defs a thing…?

That would make sense because Russ did say he's in charge of his own publicity/marketing.

I’ve been to stuff upstairs there!
Might not be a minimum spend if he’s paying for the room. I bet it’s on a Monday or Tuesday night?

Oh it’s Thurs 24th I stand corrected
