He's on Mastodon as well, but hilariously he hasn't posted a direct link to his profile, he just expects everyone to do the legwork to find him. Which I did, so I could mute him. With no understanding of how Mastodon works, he just went for what he thinks is the busiest server.

Also he's just discovered how publishing works and he's not happy. I note he's bitching about it on Mastodon, where his publisher can't see it.

Christ, he really thought that once the book was published he’d be rich beyond his wildest dreams and able to retire, didn’t he? “My kind of day”features in the lefty papers…everyone clamouring for interviews… :ROFLMAO: instead he’s giving it some whinge on Mastodon. Which is a sentence I didn’t think I’d write today…

"Why isn't all that £120,000 in my bank account right now?" Firstly, because Amazon is a predatory enterprise and secondly because everyone who worked on your book has bills to pay and deserves to be paid for the work they did on it?

I know a lot of writers. Most of them have some sort of day job, as it’s pretty well known that writing books makes nothing. Twitter grifting is a popular sideline, or they get jobs doing boring copywriting and editing stuff.

Or they just come from wealthy backgrounds and can afford to fart around making less than £10k a year.

What's puzzling to me is the fact he didn't realise all this before publishing. Did he do no research beforehand? Surely he knew what he was getting into.

I've supported a number of books with Unbound, and bought some shares when they did their investment crowdfunding. They are very, very clear about what's involved, and about what the potential pitfalls and issues are, and when you can expect to be paid and how much, and the work that you are expected to put in. If he wasn't aware of all of this, it's because he wasn't listening.

Not being shady but considering he didn’t have a penny of £5k to give to whoever he mugged off mere months ago he’s not really in a position to turn his nose up at £8k is he? For someone in the position he described himself in just a few months back that’d be a life changing sum of money….?

Oh, I think he had that £5K. I think he just thought he'd try and rinse his supporters for it because why put your hand in your own pocket when you can put it in other people's?

I don’t for a second believe that a single man in his 50s who works in IT and drives a Tesla doesn’t have £5k in savings. Or doesn’t have the means to raise it. I honestly can’t understand the mentality of people who donated to him and even kept donating after he reached his goal.

And he begged his legal fees as well. Basically, he libelled someone and escaped the entirety of the punishment for that libel because idiots paid for it.

I can believe he isn’t in a great financial position, he only recently got his first mortgage and I can’t imagine he was allowed a 30 or possibly even a 20 year term because of his age, so high deposit and/or repayments might his situ. The Tesla lease was just a lol decision but a lot of MC ppl are as overleveraged so not wildly unbelievable imo.

He’s lucky he has the audience to bail him out and buy this book.

I'm in my mid 30s and earning a lot less than he claims to and I have ~£1500 in savings, so I'd expect someone like him to have more unless he is utterly terrible with money. Which to be fair is plausible.
