I’ve counted steps whilst pushing a pram but only if it’s tracking as a run/walk. Probably not the most accurate as I would guess it go by distance rather than….steps? I know that sounds dumb but you know what I mean 😂
TBF that might actually be more accurate, because it knows your stride length and will be calculating it on that rather than arm swing?

I would do that but I don't want my strava feed flooded with me going round the block 10 times every morning to get my little one to nap XD

What a twit… what’s with no training for running ultras 🙄 there’s a few around now, it’s not big and not clever at all.

My advice - don't do a speed session 3 days out of the race, you bleeping lunatic.

ETA - Jesus, just watched his second to last reel. Does he hate his kidneys or just not trust them? Nearly 7 litres of water in a day is absolutely insane.

Already seen four people of my instagram who have got in and it's not their first either. I also see the bitchy bellend that is runtwatrun moaning as per usual. What I don't get is so many people talk about how they took up funning in 2018 or 2020 for example, yet they're on their 8th/9th year of waiting for a ballot rejection and some would've been in their early teens so they're clearly lying

Honestly the ballot whinging gets on my nerves so much.
You know the system, if you don’t like it don’t do it

You also have options. Charity places are fairly easy to come by, and for women, I really don’t think the GFA time is insanely ambitious.
totally agree with you. But tbh, in my experience, the people who whing the most are the ones that don't run that much

I completely agree. I follow a lady on insta who runs about 40 miles a month, would have time to do so much more, does a marathon every other year which she never trains for, takes 6 hours, and every year whinges about how she has no luck in the ballot. She’s more time than most to just throw the kitchen sink at it for 18 months and go for a GFA.

exactly my experience. And in my old club, I was told that "because the GFA and championship entries" there were less for the ballot, like...sorry for training hard?

The whining about the ballot does piss me off too. Equally so does people who enter on a whim having never run before and then when they get in they don't bother to do any training.

I'll admit to entering slightly on a whim. I had been running for a bit before but no where near marathon training. However if I do somehow manage to get in, I would put the work in. I think part of it would be that it would be amazing to have London as my first marathon.
But equally I know chances are slim so won't have any complaints if I don't get in. I got a landmarks half ballot spot so will have that as my aim and work towards a different marathon (or realise marathons are not for me and stick with halves!)

The only people I’ve ever come across who do it years in a row are either people who do it for the same charity and have a really compelling “story” or people who have GFA/ championship places. I’ve never seen anyone get in on a ballot more than a couple of times

Just got my official no.

I've got the landmarks half in april. Wondering if I should think about booking a different marathon... would be 2024 as would be a struggle to get marathon ready this year. Anyone got any course recommendations (Looked at Manchester but its the weekend after and work would make this very tricky!)
