4th Arc actually IS that price and more. Heres their hoodie for €55
Sweaters are €48, and the fleecess start at €40. Bear in mind that fleeces are almost always fully polyester and super cheap to produce.
Pippas stuff is €48 for a hoodie.
MTGM don't have a sweatshirt/hoodie, but they're charging €15 for a beanie hat which is described as "cozy acrylic" - grim :sick::sick:
Joanne McNallys merch is €49 for a sweatshirt which i feel isnt the worst as at least its 85% cotton (although again, I would never wear it) but im more offended by this gross trucker cap for €35.

The huns can't match Dunnes/Penneys pricing and make money. They don't have the scale.
Sorry, I looked and saw stuff for less, but including shipping the podcast merch is €61 that’s before duty! Merch is a waste of money and resources. It’s offensive given Beatrices’ background in design and as Rosemary is so fond of saying lately, hasn’t she enough money? Her latest thing is to criticise women for earning a living! I realise the irony here but Rosemary is hardly earning her living.

Every business push she seems to do is in reaction to something bad happening eg husband/Beatrice loses job, please sign up to patreon we will be more productive, we promise. Next you get an interview with a family member and two weeks off at Christmas.

Oh totally, like I said, on its face €45 doesn't seem totally out of whack, but typical Rosemary, nothing is straight forward.

Its a ludicrous proposition to try to monetise an Irish audience from a US store. The costs of shipping, taxes, time for delivery, uneconomical returns....the whole thing is a dumpster fire, as per.

She would have been much better getting someone to run it from Ireland if she wanted to do this. I still don't believe the pod is big enough to justify a merch line, but even putting that aside, the idea of putting so many barriers in front of a consumer for what is effectively ecommerce, is so dumb.

If they put more effort into consistent, decent episodes and less focus on merch they would be doing well

Who would buy this?!

€15.77 + postage for a spiral notebook?!

Ok, guys I acknolegde that I have too much time on my hands today, but I did some further digging and this is all starting to make sense.

I had visions of piles of this crap sitting in their houses, but no, this merch is brought to you via the magic of DROPSHIPPING!

This company, Printify, are listed as a partner on their Etsy store. For the uninitiated, they basically do it all for you, no upfront costs, and they only print up them item once the order has been made. Simple plug-in to Etsy (or most other ecomm platfoms) and Bob is your preverbal Uncle.

Now, companies like this are not charities, so I'd imagine that in exchange for all this convenience and zero investment, R&B stand to make a very small percentage per item.....which based on my calculations of "Nobody wants this random crap" X "Shipping Fees/Taxes" will result in Zero Dollars in profit.

Tell me again Rosemary, why you've listed these items as "handmade"??? None of these items will ever even have been in your hands, let alone made by them.

A few years ago Rosemary had a job for a social media agency or something like that, I wonder why she wouldn't consider doing something like that again. Surely there would be opportunities for working remotely

Honestly. because she doesn't like working.

I remember her in this era, and she was constantly negative about normal job stuff, like ya know, being accountable to your manager and working during working hours.

It’s bad when the first people hear about your new business venture is on tattle. There’s nothing about this on the podcast Instagram. I think it’s all tat but what’s the point if you’re not going to make your audience aware of it?

I’ve noticed a number of times on the pod when they’re discussing something and usually Rosemary says ‘we’ll put a picture of it on our Instagram’ and she rarely follows through. Or she says she’ll put a link to a particular article in ‘the show notes’ but I’ve never heard her reference where the show notes can be found. I think she’s not great at managing her time and lots of different tasks. She’s mentioned before how a traditional 9-5 doesn’t suit her because of its effect on her mental health (and I’m aware of her current restrictions on working because of her visa, I’m talking about before the move) and yet she’ll then then around and say ‘well if I was working a standard job I’d get this much holiday time’ etc. She wants the benefits of being self employed I.e. working as much or as little as she wants AND the perks of being an employee. Can’t have it both ways.

She’s in America, she'd get 5 days holidays. That’s it. As for show notes, if you’re listening on apple podcasts, scroll up and all the show notes for every podcast episode are there.
