I agree there was so much more they could've done as a series, but as a film, I liked that it stripped it all back to just keep the focus on Alex and Henry no side plots and other people really. They were so good.
I haven’t read the book but this is something I really enjoyed about the movie: the fact that for once there wasn’t a subplot (involving other, often, straight couples), it was all about Alex and Henry.

Loved this; the leads had lovely (and sexy) chemistry, and it was just a feel good movie imho (despite the brutal outing of the two).

Did anyone else think maybe the king understood Henry's position more than he let on. When he turns away he gives a look that I couldn't work out whether was concern for Henry, or a sign that he maybe had had feels for a man in his time

To me, I felt you don't get Stephen Fry to play that role without wanting to imply some backstory like that (I know it's the actor not the character but you know 🤷‍♀️ It's Stephen Fry, damn it!)

Hehe, romcoms rarely hit that three hour mark, but I hear ya! And I guess Amazon really underestimated the reactions to this one. Which I kind of get after the meltdown many in the book fandom had last year, basically writing it all off, complaining about the actors‘ looks, ages, chemistry and alleged sexuality. The reactions I saw 🙄
