Oscar Pistorius

Hi which book was it? Interested to read it!

I think it was intentional too
if I thought someone was in the house that shouldn’t have been then I’d shout my partners name at the very least-not just open fire at a closed door!

her poor family-I read a book on the case from their point of view and it was heartbreaking

I can’t remember!
i got it not long after the trial (my mate gave it to me)
im sure it was written by her parents
it mentioned that she had drawn a picture of her own death as a younger child and you could hear her mothers pain coming out from it

this one maybe??

I used to be a fan and followed him on Twitter. His public persona was that he was just a fun, clean living guy with a new beautiful girlfriend. The trial revealed their WhatsApp messages which showed they had a toxic relationship. I wish Reeva had recognised the red flags and got out. But they were a golden couple and were probably encouraged to stay together. I don't know how it escalated to her being shot and killed that night. She must've been terrified in her final moments and he should have been given a life sentence in jail.

I remember seeing a programme about the murder a while back and thinking that he didn’t have a leg to stand on (sorry, bad joke). Seem to recall there was some evidence of arguing and shouting before the shots were fired and the inferences was that they had a fight, she went off and locked herself in the loo and he followed her and fired through the door. I keep coming back to the point that he said that he was aware that she wasn’t in the bedroom when he got up and went off to find the “intruder”. Seriously, who in their right mind would just assume that it wasn’t her in the loo without taking the trouble to find out first?

I was glued to the live feed of the trial. Fascinating and horrifying. My heart broke for her poor parents. Oscar’s argument was bollocks either way-
- if indeed he thought it was an intruder (yeah right!) then he still shot four times through a door knowing it would kill someone
- however it was shown that the shots would have wounded her first and she most definitely would have cried out between shots, so a) he knew it was her and b) people testified they heard Them arguing and c) their texts showed that the relationship was toxic and AND d) he was known to have form for being a gun handy thug- firing shots out of car sunroofs, at packed restaurants etc.

Poor girl. Poor family. Oscar can duck off and rot in prison.

There’s a good documentary series called ‘Faking It, Tears of a Crime and it’s a speech expert, body language expert and a Psychologist analysing cases where the killer has gone to great lengths at police interview or in a press conference to prove their innocence. They did Oscar Pestorius, it was really interesting. I can’t remember what channel it’s on (possibly Quest or CBS Reality) and it’s night not be on just now but it’s worth keeping an eye out for

It is said that women are particularly vulnerable to violence when they end a relationship. It was claimed in court that Reeva's case was packed and that they'd been arguing and she was trying to leave on the night she was killed.

It was on tv in Singapore at the time. I was gripped. Guilty as duck, zero doubt about that. To think I was cheering him on at the London Para Olympics 2012. Saying that, his reaction when he lost that final, on the podium and press after we saw all we needed to see about Oscar and his ego. Mans a fuvking sociopath

Hi everyone, long time lurker but had to get involved in this one 👋🏾 So, I think he’s innocent but does deserve to be in prison purely for the fact he shot to kill an unidentified target who turned out to be his gf. I grew up in SA and the crime really is horrific. You only have to look online for videos of hijackings involving firearms to know that those who survived did so because they reacted quickly. Also, burglars tend to torture and kill people in SA so I understand the fear. When news first broke I also thought it was intentional but if you watch the documentary it does state a lot of the media reports were false. The arguments on what’s app where again spread apart and resolved quickly but where made to seem like they had happened close together and were frequent. From over 1700 texts, only 4 showed some sort of disagreement. There was no signal of domestic violence and she didn’t mention him hurting her physically. I think the screaming/shouting more than likely came from Oscar. As stated in court, Reeva would have been dead at the time the neighbours heard the shouting/screaming. I think he was arrogant, immature and secretly very insecure. As you can all see, I was very invested in the show and would love to hear counter arguments 😅😅

Absolutely intentional. I too was gripped by the whole story and how it played out. The SA justice system is very interesting, to say the least!!
After the original sentencing, I was angry that he’d been treated differently because of who he is. Thankfully, the appeal righted that wrong.
The man clearly has deep-rooted anger issues. I remember his interview at the 2012 Olympics, where he was really angry, and said to my family that he’s not the man he’s portrayed as.

Intentional, but I believe he was in crazy mode at the time and regrets it tremendously.
Unfortunately that doesn't bring her back, and he has to be punished.
This. 100%
He threw a wobbler and unfortunately had easy access to weapons, never a good mix. I'm sure he is sorry, for himself and maybe for Reeva, but not sorry enough to just hold his hands up.
I think he was angry that Reeva was breaking away from him slowly but surely and her speech that she was honing that night on DV may have pushed his buttons when he recognised himself or feared others might assume she was hinting about him.
Meds collected from the bedroom indicated he had issues re impotency which no doubt exacerbated his bad moods too and made him paranoid.

Also - she had her phone with her in a locked bathroom??? Who the hell does that when they get up in the night to go to the loo?? For me, it was obvious his story was bollocks when he said he awoke to a noise but didn't notice she wasn't in the bed with him? This has happened to me and the first thing you do is ask your partner 'what was that?' Guilty as sin and horrible person.
