It's shocking how many students receive loans that don't even cover their rents, and I'm sure these girls are comfortably earning more money than most of us normal people could dream of, but that's beside the point.
This attitude of "[blank] didn't so why should I" is exactly why covid is spreading. I don't know how else to explain it without repeating my previous post, but just because they didn't have to isolate by law doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do. They've both travelled up and down the country - Olivia by both plane and ferry - which makes their situations different to somebody who formed a Christmas bubble. In response to "why would they" - because that's the best course of action to ensure you're not passing covid onto anyone else. If it's too much of an inconvenience to them to sit in their lovely London apartment for 14 days for the sake of other people's health, then fair enough. Like you say, there's no law to stop them. It's just a confirmation for me that I have different values to them and I wouldn't be friends with them irl
