At my home home (not NI) fighter jets would dog fight over our house. It was used as the “target” for practice 😳 I swear the number of times I thought they were going to hit was terrifying
Sounds terrifying 😟 probably the only time I pray is when there’s a low flyer 😂…Interesting to see so many share the same fear did the British Army leave a lasting impact on us all.

Seen Simone Biles the other day. I love the synchronised swimming. The Russian team were brilliant at it, I’m sure the other countries competing are delighted they’ve been banned.
She was incredible. Been watching the team event this evening.
Am I right in remembering that Russia were banned for doping a few years back before the Ukraine thing? I remember that wee Russian girl in the ice skating at the winter ones last time who was only about 14 and she tested positive and then basically got Dq’s but still had to perform as the test had been appealed.
synchronised swimming is amazing. The hours of practice to pull that off is outstanding.
You’ll be pleased to hear I will be cheering on Ireland when Rhys does his pommel horse Nora! ;)

What about Daniel Whiffin tonight in the swimming he's NI too. World champ/record holder so decent medal prospect.

Just after 8.
I’m happy to cheer on any Irish athletes north or south btw. I just have a soft spot for Rhys because I love gymnastics and I have heard he is lovely. I’m finding the BBC coverage to be bloody awful and it is hard to find out when any event is on. I just got lucky tonight that I managed to catch the gymnastics

I think I read something like a third of Team Ireland are from the North?

imagine when the chinooks came over. Used to wave at the pilots 🙋🏻‍♀️😳

Most of us here wouldn’t have to imagine, we’d have seen them all the time. My cousins lived in the country and they’d land in their fields all the time. We wouldn’t have been waving at the pilots though, more like giving them the peg 🖕😂 This was taken in Armagh in 1999, they used to hover over the football pitch to stop them kicking points.

Not sure about that Nora but entirely possible now I think about it.

I checked and I just posted fake news 🤥😂 32 of Team Ireland are from NI. Another 6 on Team GB.

So quick math I think that’s more like 25%.
There are two rowers in their final tipped for a medal. And Ciara Mageean. And that dressage lady who was on the news earlier. And I'm guessing a chunk of the hockey team. And some of the boxers/swimmers probably.

Off the top of my head.

Sorry I didn’t mean any offence by that

They're raving about that American Clark Kent lookalike over on the Olympics thread😬
Let them!
I really think Rhys will do it this time. Last time he fell and it was heartbreaking but I think that has helped him in terms of resilience hopefully. I get the impression that team GB is so England focused for some events.

I’m hoping Ireland have a boxer who knocks the duck out of one of the men who have sneaked into the women’s section. That was a disgrace.

I might take up swimming as the women’s back stroke team all have great arms and mine are getting a bit flabby.
