Yeah I still think there’s a reason this one remained in development hell for decades.
I immensely dislike Jared Leto, so that casting doesn’t make me want to see this at all. I love that Nick‘s filmography is so crazy and I actually like most of his stuff. But I wish he hadn’t gone into this direction.

If he has been locked into an amazon contract then that was a big mistake.

You wouldn't get Paul Mescal or Leo Woodall restricting themselves like that, especially for streaming which is notoriously hit and many misses

Nick (and/or his team) has clearly made bad choices. Amazon is pilling him with tit projects.

Taylor needs to get some work though. So it's like two extremes. One is working loads on tit. And the other isn't working at all.

I'd love Taylor to get Flynn Ryder in the Tangled love action. That would leap frog anything Nicks done.

What's sadder is Nick has actually done some great and interesting work, up to and including RWRB. His choices since then have been poor and heading in the downward trajectory

i wonder what’s going on with taylor tbh! as much as i get on at nick (sorry nick 😀), taylor hasn’t booked anything since rwrb (expect, presumably, the sequel). i know competition must be huge but he’s gonna get massively left behind. like mark though, i really hope he gets flynn rider!

Even Mary & George was interesting, even if the show fell off and wasn't as slutty as it should have been.

But yes, since then it's all been downhill and just feels like fulfilling contractual requirements.

i think his team are going to be hugely disappointed with 2024 in all honesty. his big prestige historical drama didn’t make any impact (like they’d obviously hoped) and his big romcom with an oscar winner kind of came and went (its legacy will just be that meme of anne h slamming the laptop shut 🤣). that interview he did with the times where he joked about the internet thinking he’d been cast as johnny storm and messaging joseph quinn like lol sorry everyone thought it was me still makes me 😬

i do still like nick i promise 🤣 but he did try my
patience this year. and i do wonder about the choices he’ll make moving forward and how long this contract is apparently running for.

I wonder if Taylor is fighting racism and homophobia in Hollywood, something Nick doesn't have as their white boy of the moment (although that would also explain the distancing of gay roles)

it depends i guess! i don’t know if homophobia is so huge a thing now, especially with someone like jonathan bailey (and andrew scott) thriving and booking roles (and pedro pascal! 😉) i think taylor’s issue is more that he doesn’t have a huge resume of parts, and all those parts have been similar. it’s hard to get a studio to take a punt on you otherwise, especially with the level of competition out there.

True, but interestingly they're coming from the UK with serious cvs. And Pedro is a don't ask don't tell 🤣

I agree though I think taylors very minimal CV, and all in lighter fare is really restricting him. He needs something to make people take him seriously. Even in RWRB it's Nick who gets the more dramatic arch

exactly! nick (as much as i’m railing on him) has a varied list of parts so far and gets the more dramatic scenes and journey in rwrb; taylor is still much more limited and has mainly played pretty himbo-ish types. which he’s great at, but i get why maybe that means people won’t take the risk with him. i’d love for him to get a big challenging part in 2025 🥲

So what we are saying is we all need to take charge of their careers 🤣

I agree, he needs to get something gritty. It was my biggest criticism of RWRB, Alex is far too accepting of his sexuality and so is his family and US public. I hope the sequel focuses a bit more on him and gives him some serious hurdles (along with the hot sex scenes obvs)
