Oh man alive! The thread about the OP choosing for her kid to be vegetarian is a wild ride. MNers are sooooooo weird about their “meat and 2 veg diet”. They always kick off about vegetarian weddings and parties and stuff. I’m a meat and fish eater but I can see a veggie diet can be really healthy and wholesome. For six figure earners who went to Oxbridge, they’re not very bright.
Hmm I have to say raising her baby as a veggie is a bit weird… I personally couldn’t do it, knowing all the nutrients humans need from meat, iron etc, but thats just my childfree opinion 😅

So the mumsnet 6 figure high earners that are very important, those that work from home apparently don’t do much work, well they do but obviously bake, go to the gym, have a bath, clean the house etc. But as long as they get their super important jobs sorted at some point some employers are ‘cool with it.’No wonder staff are being called back to the office. My partner works from home he seems to work pretty solidly. Don’t people also have strict log in rules, some even monitored?
Going back to this late as I was actually working 😀
I do 3 days at home and as long as my work is done they dont really care if I stick a wash on or have my shopping delivered.
I am always nice and vague in my team updates so they never know if I have started something or finished it last week but am hiding it until its needed.
I used to run myself ragged for this company then I realised they were favouring the new staff over those who have been slogging their guts out for years.
Now I do enough not to get fired, and weirdly my immediate bosses think Im great.
Still not on 6 figures though.

I'm not positive but I think there are some vitamins and/or minerals you can only get from meat and/or fish and if you're veggie or vegan you should take a supplement so I don't think you can get everything you need from a meat/fish free diet.

However there will be meat eater parents out there giving their kids pepperoni pizza, chicken nuggets and turkey dinosaurs on repeat who won't be getting all the nutrients they need so in that sense they're not doing anything worse than meat eaters necessarily.

All children should, ideally, be given a multivitamin from aged 1 anyway.
Of course a diet of veggie dinosaurs and chips is shitter than salmon and avocado and organic chicken. I’m willing to bet most of the meat whiners feed their kids fish fingers which are less than 60% actual fish. I am not judging, we bloody love a fish finger in this house. Just saying people are weird about veggie diets. I feel more strongly about vegan diets because babies need calcium and more protein than a vegan diet can give.

I feel seen. My child lives on pepperoni pizza, chicken nuggets and chocolate muffins. I’d be thrilled if he ate a nutritious vegetarian diet (or even a vegetable).

there’s a thread ongoing for about 3 months that’s driving me mad.

poster is awaiting sentencing for fraud, having stolen a significant sum of money from her employer, whilst being in a position of trust.

they’re all thinking of her, praying she gets a suspended sentence, saying she doesn’t deserve prison, hope she doesn’t lose her lovely new job etc

anyone who dares disagree or suggests maybe the victim has a different point of view is being jumped on.

I work on fraud cases and sometimes they’re the worst, because it’s someone they’ve trusted and it hits really deep. Especially when it’s all their money, or enough to bankrupt their small family business.

I hope she gets what she deserves, whether that’s a suspended sentence or time. If prison is on the table then I suspect it’s not an ooh sorry, moment of madness issue, and there’s more to it than o/p is letting on.

Willing to bet if it was them who’d been cheated out of money by someone they’ve trusted trusted they’d be baying for blood.

S&B thread: What should I wear for my post-mortem? Willing to spend up to 5k as it'll just go on inheritance tax. Must cover my livor mortis.

AIBU thread. "I donated my organs and they put my pristine liver in a fat, working class alcoholic."

I work in financial services, back office admin side of things. I have regular meetings with our fraud detection team if there's something that looks dodgy. It's the same routine every time we catch someone and start prosecution proceedings. "Wah, wah, poor me, I know I was wrong but (insert litany of excuses) please go easy on me." Funny how they never thought it was wrong when they were busy defrauding us and reckoned they wouldn't be caught.

she doesn’t say, I’ve had a quick check of her posts.
Actually reading all her previous posts she sounds suspiciously like shithole. Lots of excuses, lots of “I’m trying to get my tit together” posts, dodgy partner, wants to be a Psychiatrist (!)….

I remember the thread, why hasn't she been in court yet?

I think she’s on the third postponement of the sentencing hearing?

My favourite was “I had to take all my parents money because they were spending it. I was only helping them manage their money better”

6 figure amount. Poor parents were living on the breadline.

One of their own, innit? For those sorts of sums (the massive amount or the bleeping massive amount she's claiming the company made up on top of what she actually stole) must have been a director/accountant/business manager/head teacher/etc, not the poor bastard admin that almost always gets blamed for this sort of tit in the first place.

I've never heard of there being a further punishment/penalty/compensation/a victim payment for the people that get fired/accused/suspended in the crossfire, but for the level of stress and financial difficulty they have, I believe there should be a separate crime and penalty/compensatory payment along the grounds of criminal injuries payments for being the victim of a fit-up.

What’s the fraud thread called? Sounds like a banger and I’m doing nothing tonight.

it’s “what to expect for sentencing on court on Friday”

it’s not really that interesting, it’s basically poor me, then lots of replies of poor you, with a couple of hang on, when I was a victim it was awful getting completely jumped on for daring to upset the poor lady who is facing prison.

I think the next sentencing hearing is scheduled for tomorrow so it’s popped back up because they’re all hoping and praying she gets justice and walks free.

I think she said she was having a breakdown or psychosis at the time and she doesn't actually remember doing it or spending the cash, but work said she did. I remember when I read it first being a bit 🤨 that there didn't seem to be much evidence and that she seemed to just accept their word for it, but on the other hand we only have her side of the story.
