Matthew Perry

If Perry had of not made it and had to keep grafting then he might still be alive. All that money and free time with no purpose can be difficult.

Years and years ago - possibly while Friends was still being filmed - I read an interview with him where he said “it’s a very dangerous thing to have all your dreams come true at the age of 25”.

That really struck me, and it was always the first thing I thought of whenever I saw an article about his issues.

So true. I have a mantra I live by every blessing is a curse and every curse a blessing. If Matthew had had to function, had had to audition, had had to scrounge for parts, he would be alive today. The ‘blessing’ of 10-20 mill per annum in residuals for doing nothng was never going to do anyone any favours, least of all an addict.

Big question - who is going to get the money though? Insane - that yearly income and no real family. Is the mother still alive? Apart from her, they all seem steps.

He made his will in 2009 and left it to his parents and siblings and one ex. Actually he left it to a trust, but the beneficiaries are bound to be his parents and siblings. In actual assets he didn't have much, because all was bound in trusts and companies.

He had about two long term relationships, Lizzy Caplan and Rachel Dunn (the one ex who was in his will, they were together 2003 - 2005).

So, from what I can see, he is the only child of his parents who are still alive. The siblings are step-siblings. His parents are a good-looking couple for sure. I didn’t read that about him making a will in 2009 but if he left it to a trust I don’t think the beneficiary of a trust is released under Californian law. It could be a charity instead of family perhaps..

Yes, he was their only child together. The mother had 4 kids with Morrison and the father one daughter with his second wife.

The beneficiaries of the trust I don't know, but I do suspect it's his family, who have set up a charity in his name.

On the question earlier in the thread who did he leave it all to as he didn't have kids or spouse.... You don't need those and sometimes one's own kids don't deserve anything.

The fail, amongst others, has written about his will

Will signed 26 Oct 2009, died 28 Oct 2023. Almost to the day 14 years later...

Had he work done? Was just looking at some photos and the difference in these two photos taken only 3 years apart is massive. He looks like he’s had an eyebrow lift. Smaller looking eyes is usually a sign that there’s been some work done or filler added under the eyes and in the cheeks.

As far as I understand the original ketamine infusions were all legal, supervised, etc., and then it spiralled into an addiction leading to an overdose?

What I am struggling to get my head around is how a doctor thought that ketamine was an appropriate treatment for depression for a patient with known substance and drug abuse issues. Especially as ketamine for depression is still considered experimental treatment afaik so it’s not even like they could have been certain it would work for him. Just seems a crazy risk to take.

Yeah, I question how a 'sober' person with a lifetime of abusing drugs and alcohol convinced himself getting off his tits on Ketamine is perfectly ok to do for 'medical reasons', and that there's an entire class of doctors doling it out to people who cannot take ANY kind of drug without forming an addiction.

OK, the first is addict stuff, and he seems to have employed a PA to help him maintain his addiction, and second is just absolute greed and profit-driven medicine taken to the max.

That cuts very deep. What is left if you already have everything at your fingertips? With a singer there's always the next album to strive for. Someone on a long running sitcom has a very different path.
