Unpopular opinion but I didn’t like the original version of the series. It was too painful to watch when they didn’t get on knowing they were actually married. I can’t remember specifically now but I do recall at the time thinking they were mostly really bad matches as well. At least this one has the orchestrated drama and laughs without some poor person being legally binded.
 
New here, but watched all the MAFS UK from the OG to now.

I think the OG couples were very isolated, not meeting up with each other. The experiment was very much like watching people in a goldfish bowl and so many seemed to have serious issues during and after with little to no support.

It feels more like a reality TV show than voyeurism now that the format is closer to MAFS Aus.

I love MAFS Aus for all the drama and love, though I haven't watched MAFS US yet.

@Toast365 Re MAFS US it’s inbetween the old UK version and the Aus version. There’s less couples so you see more from each. It’s less “produced” they live where they want keep going to work and are legally married. I’m just finishing S8 they may have changed the format but I know they still get legally married.

nope the last "old" series had two successes, one that was seen and one that wasnt.

The seen couple were Owen and Michelle, late 20s/early 30s couple. both fairly normal. still together now 2 years later.

Then there was another couple who didnt get shown on TV as their wedding never went ahead due to covid! But the producers let them meet on zoom and they are now engaged and have a baby :)
