Well....that's delicious. 😆

I've not watched since they made it into a pure fame hungry reality show and took the Oz version. I preferred the first series where it just seemed more "real" and an actual experiment

I’ve watched all versions, it would definitely seem the earlier ones had a worse impact on the mental health of the wives/husbands, ongoing support was a particular issue which they kept raising. I know it’s trash now, with fame hungry people trying to develop their profile, but it doesn’t seem as bad and have such a negative impact as it attracts different types of people? I think actually being legally married drew out the trauma for a lot of them, and not having the support of the other couples. A lot of the wives from the first UK versions actually sought each other out via social media and became friends.

I’m waaayyyyy to invested in this! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sophie’s dad really thinks Sophie is something special (which as a dad is normal to think about their daughter) but I rolled my eyes so much listening to him talk. His daughter is nothing compares to the real glamorous/rich/high maintenance type girls. She looks like your average top shop girl but if you listened to her dad you’d expect to see a st Tropez yacht girl looking like Megan fox

I live in York and know some of the people on Matt's instagram. I'll have a snoop past his barber shop in hopes of catching a glimpse of the big fella.
I go to the same gym he does, although don't believe we've ever crossed paths.

Regarding Jonathan, Selby is a TINY market town. Sorry Sophie, it doesn't have a Waitrose or M&S . I believe what you see is what you get with him - a down to earth carpenter who lives a quiet life, despite the instagram travel pictures suggesting something more grand.

Yeah definitely needed post show support back in the earlier seasons (also speak to one of the OGs as it were). Can be said about many reality shows I suppose now (Love Island etc) especially if you ended up married to a tosser 😆. I think the difference was that it was more of a shock/risk entering the show having it being actually married with a hope that people wouldn't go on just for the fame (but they sadly still did). I remember one wife being completely vile to her husband the entire show and he seemed a totally lovely guy! She didn't even *seem to* try to get to know him or anything.

There's too many shows with basically the same plot line just a different name now.

All caught up. I don’t even know where to start with the new couples. Kasia has definitely lost her thirsty girl crown to Gemma. No amount of twerking is
Another ridiculous match with Sophie & Wallace (can’t remember his name, but that he talks like Wallace & Gromit) How do they get called experts?! Clearly she wants a footballer not a bloody haribo carpenter. He seems adorable though. And Sophie’s Dad can get in the bin. Judgy prick

I think the real shame with the change of format is that the last "old style" series actually found two couples who are still together. One has a baby too.

So they were finding decent matches and jacked it all in for drama.

I think they’d argue that two couples are still together from last years drama and one is expecting a baby though.

Remember the groom who it turned out immediately after the honeymoon reactivated his online dating profiles in the early series. I think the participants did take it more seriously but it wasn’t any better at producing matches.

True, got to stay together for them brand deals haha.

I suppose the point I'm making is the two couples from the old style series don't have hundreds of thousands of followers. They are still together despite no limelight. They were never in it for fame unlike the newer couples and their matches feel far more genuine.

Was one of the couples the IT bloke who married a primary school teacher? He bought a strange communist-style townhouse which his new bride was unimpressed with to say the least.

They were a lovely couple. Married just before lockdown. Are they still together? I hope so.
Yes that's them. Done the house up and it looks lovely. Still married!

I follow Sarah on Instagram from the 1st original series. Not seen her comment on this version
