I think this has highlighted that it's actually not great to be living with your parents at 30 - it's not about not hating your family, it's about growing up, being independent, taking responsibility and making your own decisions - and also allowing your parents to move on to the next stage of their life. Of course her parents still treat her like a child when she's never done the grown up thing. Obviously some people have reasons, financial or otherwise, but she can afford it, she's just not been let out of the ivory tower and it's unhealthy all round. It's no wonder she's so keen on Georges supporting her, she's going from being mummy and daddy's child to (possibly) Georges dependent with no independence in between.

Apparently she went to Sheffield Uni and I just KNOW she was one of those students who went back home every damn weekend

Absolute madness. I'm a year older than her, I've been married 10 years (admittedly I got married very young) with 2 kids. It genuinely blows my mind watching Peggy and her family.
I constantly wonder if it is all just an act …. Surely she can’t be that vacuous - I think the mouth hanging open, playing with her hair and licking her lips constantly at her age must be a cover up. If it was a 16 year old acting like that we’d just put it down to them growing up and finding themselves stage.

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with Peggy still living at home - God knows if I had the chance to still be able to live with my mum I’d take it (if you took my partner and children out of the equation 🤣)
It’s the dynamic that’s the issue. I lived a completely separate life from my mum before I moved out - I didn’t rely on her, or run my life past her on an hour by hour basis.
I think their vibe as a family would be completely off regardless of where she lived.

Why? I lived at home until I met a man I wanted to move in with. It's not that unusual for women to do that. I didn't see the point waisting money on rent and didn't particularly want to live with a house mate.

Yes she has a well paid job and could afford to live alone, but it is expensive living alone and can be lonely, so why not stay with mum and dad. For all we know she's got thousands in the bank just waiting to buy a property when she meets the right person.

I don't know why it is so looked down on to live with your parents in this country. In other cultures it's perfectly normal. Not everyone hates their family and can't bare to see them more than a few times a year.

It's called growing up. It's called independence and becoming your own person.

It’s more the fact they are SO critical of Georges not being able to provide financial stability when he has his own house; what does she bring to the table?!
