Jade is very reminiscent of SA girls I knew when I was in my 20s and 30s. They all look like her, spoke like her and had the one goal of marriage to a rich man. SA was at the end of apartheid and well to do SA oligarchs fled to the UK to find matches for their children. Most of them were very religious too. Church and bible were important but so was vapid prettiness and vanity.
She's right when she talks about arranged marriages. It isn't like we think of arranged, but there was a certain gene pool of eligible bachelors who they were paired up with. Most of them got pregnant and the men buggered off and married sweet English Rose wifey types.
Should add for context that my husband used to be a barrister and the blokes were his colleagues. These women used to be pushed in front of them at weddings and social events by well meaning family members in an effort to marry them off well.
Despite myself I can see Ridge and Jade doing well together.
