Maybe whoever bylined that article did go and see her, but to be a 'critic' I'd say would have to involve some expertise... or at least be a regular reviewer of stand up comedians...

Serena's background is PR and marketing - it's not surprising she's done so well at self promotion, she could sell shite to a cow farm!

Didn’t know this. All makes sense now then. She was never funny and it was never about comedy. She saw an opportunity during lockdown and ran with it, sold sold sold on the back of it. There’s nothing relatable, sincere or genuine about her - don’t even want to start on the mental health angle 🙄
 
Sorry if it’s been discussed I flicked through the thread and majority seems to be about other people and confusing for a non Derry girl 🤦‍♀️ What happened to her brothers? tbh having lost 2 sisters I have to admire her seeing a chance to change her life and take it, it obviously wasn’t about money as she had a good job previously.
Some of the reels are try hard or long but for now I still follow as find them at least amusing and she’s not selling shite constantly.

One brother had a long term physical illness which sadly claimed his life. Her other brother took his own life following that loss. She has had an exceptionally challenging life so fair play to her I say. No one is ever going to be everyone's cup of tea, but she took something that was growing organically anyway and has made the most of it. It's not often a female comedian from this part of the world amasses a following, so fair play to her. She's not harming anyone.

That is so sad and incredibly difficult for the family.

She's just had a sell out UK tour though... And it didn't fall flat.

I know people who went and loved it. Her stand up is not my thing, personally. Only because I think I'm getting more prudish in my old age.
But I admire her greatly for grabbing her 15 mins of internet fame in 2020 by the balls and making a career out of it. Especially as there aren't many female comedians from here making an impact.

I can’t stand her and would not go to anything she is hosting for free, but each to their own
