Anyone else watching?

I'm up to episode 6 ...

It's hard not to feel so sorry for the lead character as she can't just take off from all these hangers-on ... but how on earth has it taken her so long to see the perfect man was there for her all along?
Andi McDowell is amazing (and her daughter too, who plays the lead).

I watched it this week and really enjoyed it. Took me a while to realise her abusive boyfriend was the boy from Melissa & Joey!

I found some aspects of it a bit ridiculous (her getting offered that fabulous accommodation that she clearly couldn't afford) and found it strange they were cleaning peoples houses but had to take their own vacuum?!

I was never much of a fan of Andie McDowell but I thought she was great as her mother and obviously helped by the fact it's her real life daughter.

It was obvious Alex bonded really well in real life with the little girl playing her daughter, so sweet!

I saw it was based on a book and was going to read it but the negative reviews put me off!

E8:

OMG, this girl! If I knew her, I'd give her jolly good lecture!!! She is given not one, but TWO amazing opportunities on a platter (with Mr Perfect and then to live at Regina's house after all), and she just throws both to the bin. Crazy!!!
I really hope this gets better over the two remaining episodes as I'm feeling veeeery frustrated ...

I loved it. Was so good but frustrating at times.

I think it was produced by Margot Robbie and her husbands company wasn’t it? They seem to be doing some pretty decent things
I’ve got a question not directly at you but what does a producer do? A director directs and as far as I’m aware is in charge. Does he answer to the producers? Are they the ones putting up the money or do they raise it from others?
Sometimes in the credits I see so many producers and executive producers that I wonder why so many.
Sorry for derailing. I’m up to episode 7 and still not sure what to think.
I think maybe because I previously watched Squid Game it sort of spoilt me.

I didn’t really like Mr Perfect but I know what you mean but I think she just wanted to do things by herself and not be reliant on anyone again.

Don’t quote me but I think they usually put the money into it and they sort everything out like the casting, budget and hire a director etc.
I’m not 100 per cent sure though lol

I have been watching this got to episode 9 last night and literally burst into tears and had to switch off. It was at the point
Alex returned to the shelter
having been a victim of dv ( I found the courage to leave 4.5 years ago) something triggered me at that point. I don’t know if I’ll be able to watch the rest. However I do think the program is good as abuse can be so subtle at first and you can be reeled back in by the abuser.

I also found it sad the girl she met when she first went to the shelter left and went back to her abuser again 😢

Unfortunately that’s what happens, I would ask my ex to leave my house and every occasion he would never leave so I was stuck with him! It is scary when you watch something and it mirrors parts of your own life. Admittedly I’m in a very different place now but that bit just really got to me.
Though I don’t really ever think trauma leaves you, you just learn coping mechanisms.
