I was shopping at Selfridges yesterday and as I mentioned before, I couldn't find myself amazed by all these luxury products anymore. Gone are the days when only the best of celebrities wore certain things... Now, even the tackiest people can purchase and wear all these designer clothes- worst of all, designers give the products away. Another bad thing is, because I wasn't in head to toe designer yesterday, the sales assistants couldn't be bothered to even serve me so I walked away so many concessions because they were all busy talking.
Now, if it was Lydia Elise Millen who walked into those concessions, I'm sure they would be all over her. Maybe I'm wrong in that assumption?
With all her designer pieces, they would think that she has money to spend but they don't know that's all given to her. Everything in her life is gifted and yet you would notice that these influencers walk around and carry themselves with a huuuge sense of importance because they have designer items.
I think the fact that Lydia is still in denial and stubborn about declaring products says it all. I wonder how she conducts meetings with brands. Without transparency, she loses credibility. I would much rather watch someone who is honest. I think more and more women are going to see the true Lydia Elise Millen Gordon.
‘Luxury’ (I use the term loosely) brands aren’t worth it. Yes there are some items that are hand made but once u learn the truth of how cheaply most are made, how disgusting they are with their use of animals and poorly paid staff, so on, and yeah now we know they gift so much away to nobodies etc we are all seeing how our money is better spent elsewhere. Not many of those brands are impressive anymore (like seeing everyone with a LV bag, Gucci belt, Hermes belt, etc) and almost all are marked up hundreds of percent more than the cost to produce it.
Influenzers have cheapened all the luxury brands. There’s no way I’d give my money to a $4000 bag when someone else got it for free just because they have a following on social media.
There are genuine, good quality small brands in accessories, clothing, skincare, beauty, haircare, footwear etc that are much better to invest in. And better quality.
Look at La Mer. Cheap nasty ingredients with a ‘mystery’ ingredient from the sea that has zero proof of what it is and zero proof that it does anything. Main ingredients include mineral oil which is cheap & made from petroleum. It’s all marketing & branding themselves as luxury. People fall for the bullshit. It used to be celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and lots of others who swore by la mer BUT they were paid to say they used it and given it for free.
Look at hope smith. A model who married a billionaire and was told to use la mer everyday to prevent stretch marks. She researched the ingredients & discovered how they are nasty and didn’t want to use them while pregnant and has now gone on to having create an all natural, nourishing body balm & oil.
Luxury brands that sell to the general public are all advertising and creating this perception that you’re better if you own it. But it’s all bullshit. The real luxury items aren’t sold in shops, they are presented to the private shoppers of millionaires & billionaires.
When lidl is walking around wearing a $1,000,000 watch, with a multi million dollar car collection, living in a $20,000,000+ mansion with staff, kids in elite private schools, dripping in rare jewels, vacationing all over the world in private locations (paid for by herself), travelling by first class or private jet everywhere (once again her footing the bill), maybe then I’ll buy her whole ‘luxury’ wishful thinking.
