Lucie Donlan/Luke Mabbott (Love Island)

1
Like someone said, Demi mentioned that Lucie and Luke were messaging in the first lockdown when her and Luke were together. There's no way Lucie didn't know. I never liked her. Such an attention seeker but the typical blonde girly girl so obvs LI and ITV were all over it. Not surprised at all at her being a racist, there were lots of micro-aggressions in LI. Particularly that they didn't give the black members as much air time as the white ones. With Yewande, some episodes you didn't even see her. I was convinced she had left one time. Same with Michael at the begging really, just literally a snippet. At least Yewande said how she felt about Lucie, and no doubt she would've said it to her face as well. I just don't get Lucie saying she was a bully with absolutely no proof

I've not liked Lucie since the first ep of her season of LI 🤣 I'm so happy there's a thread about her

Hi M!! Miss you and your hilarious sarcy wit. Hope you're good 😘
I knew you lovely tattlers would be all over this as soon as I saw what was going on on twitter! I never liked Lucie from day 1 either, she reeked of desperation. For some reason she was the one the producers were originally trying to push on the public but it backfired when they realised she wasn't well liked! As an Irish person I was rooting for Yewande but felt she was on the wrong show. She came across as intelligent and together and didn't seem to have that anything for fame vibe some of the others had. Imagine being so disgusting as to not have enough respect to learn someone's name, it's not like it's even a difficult name. Stinks of racism. Shame on you Lucy (bet it annoys her when people spell her name like that!!)

I really didnt like lucie in her season and definitely dont like her now. loved luke in his season but yeah he became shady after pieing demi off for lucie during lock down, saying it was because of the distance but lucie actually lives further from him than demi so that was obviously a lie. I think lucie's horrible energy rubbed off on him tbh because he used to be sweet or so he was portrayed.

Francesca came in with Chris (Maura’s now boyfriend) towards the end. The most notable thing she did was couple up with Curtis when Maura was making her move. She’s been exposed as a racist post-show though, which is a shame considering she seemed lovely on LI. Also a fun tidbit is that she called Caroline a dirty p*do before going on LI.

Joanna was a Casa Amor girl that Michael chose to leave Amber for. Wes was in Season 4!
Wow I never knew that, where did you hear that about fran?

Lucie has released a statement on the Daily Mail (of course she has, any opportunity for exposure) and it's here so they don't get anymore clicks:

"These are really old comments dug up purely to incite a row between two females. In this day and age and with everything going on in the world, we should all be sticking together not attacking each other. I've been sent death threats which are incredibly scary as you can imagine. I said on the show I had trouble pronouncing Yewande's name, it's just what I'm like. And I asked if I could use a shortened abbreviated version of her name instead as a term of endearment – there's nothing sinister to it. I regret how just a few old comments sent 18 months ago has snowballed like this and got out of hand, and drummed up some needless negativity. Can we all just move on from this please?"

She managed to pull the feminism card, the 'death threats' card, and the ~negativity~ card in one fell swoop! She completely glossed over the fact that mispronouncing Yewande’s name was a microaggression, and very telling that she refuses to apologise for it (I ‘regret’ is not an apology).

I’ve always got mean girl vibes from Lucie and this just confirmed it. As many have said, she clearly makes a point of getting on with men better, that’s she’s soooo different to other girls. I’ve never really seen her post of insta with a group of female friends. She just seems really unlikable to me.
I think on love island she even said she doesn't get along with girls and she's always been closer to guys... I always get bad vibes from girls who make a point to say this tbh, always

Has Yewande said anything about it? I’d be interested to hear what she has to say, and whether she thinks it’s just an attempt to stir it up ‘between two females’

this angered me the most because wtf how can she not acknowledge that there's something wrong with it.. so disrespectful imo.

Yes, Yewande was the one who called her out in a tweet in the first place... so I don’t understand why Lucie is suggesting other people were inciting the row. It was Yewande herself who dug up the old comment (as she should've)!

Thank you! And yes I absolutely agree with you. No one is trying to stir it up. Yewande is perfectly entitled to bring it up if it’s something that’s bothered her

Not defending Lucie I mean Yewande isn’t a difficult name to pronounce and at no point did Lucie ever sound like she had a speech impediment so it does seem incredibly silly she wouldn’t want to pronounce Yewandes name. However, this time last year every second meme was a misspelling of Siannise’s name!
