I've said it before and I'll keep saying until I'm blue in the face- if they're going to televise this sort of behaviour to millions of people then they need to also televise consequences of that behaviour, otherwise they're helping to normalise it.

This a million times! It will take Women's Aid or Ofcom getting involved for them to acknowledge anything.

And I think she does, I suppose that’s the difference. I think she’ll bin him the second she’s out and has what she wants. In the same way I find it highly unlikely her mum will address his behaviour when she comes in, because she won’t want to thwart Gemma’s chances of a win. If she does, I will completely accept I am wrong.

I don’t deny Lucas behaviour is absolutely disgusting, but I think knowingly accepting it to win a show is wrong. And I think Gemma has known for a long time now that A) she doesn’t like him and B) he’s a piece of tit.

I wouldn't be surprised. At the end of the day, controversy=publicity. Look at them putting Adam Collard back in after an actual DV charity put out a statement about his behaviour a few years ago. They know that the more dramatic the headlines are, the more people will watch. And the more people who watch, the more they can charge per advert.

It's all about money, sadly. I think that's why the whole show is so watered down now- gotta keep it clean enough that the big brands want the sponsorships/ad slots 🙄

You’ve worded it better than me! I didn’t mean she’s accepting it unknowingly and can’t get out/is scared to, that’s a different kettle of fish. I just think she does and keeps shtum because she has a prize in mind. I can’t be OK with that.
 
I think Gemma will dump him.. or at least I can’t see storyline wise where else this could be going? It’s getting so much attention and they’re clearly popular so I can see why it’s being dragged out. ITV set Jake up for doing a lot less last year…

It’s kind of hard to tell because it’s obvious they do get on a lot better then say Jake/Liberty did and some of the conversations felt weirdly produced tonight… I don’t know… my head is fried from it all…

For me it always comes down to the fact that Gemma is the one contestant who doesn’t need to win. She’s from a mega rich family and at this stage her fame is secured no matter what happens. Sadly I do see the tell tale signs, I think she’s falling victim to gaslighting on national TV. I think she does like him and her body language and how she behaves around him is because she’s drained from trying to defend herself all the time.
And yeah Luca is a POS, that we agree on 😂
 
I’d love it if they brought in psychologists and they showed clips of the psychologists highlighting Lucas gaslighting to him at least (but maybe educating the rest of the cast as welll?) so he / the whole cast can see at his young age how he treats women is not ok.
 
Whew the lowkey victim blaming on this thread tonight is not it. FYI, it’s not Gemma’s responsibility at 19 years of age to be a “role model” to people watching, I don’t care what anyone says. She’s one of the youngest contestants to ever appear on the show and I think she’s done pretty bleeping well in dealing with Luca most of the time, especially if you take into account that she’s still learning and growing herself. It’s alright saying she’s just staying with him to win but in my opinion I don’t think she gives af about that, the girl has basically been a millionaire since the day she came out the womb ffs.

And that’s totally fine, I respect you see it differently. I guess neither of us will ever really know. I’m sure once Gemma is out, regardless of how she did feel, she’ll end up binning him anyway when her mother gets in her ear. So atleast the outcome will be no Luca, whatever the method to get there!

Dami’s problem is that, due to unconscious prejudice, he doesn’t have that fall back. The fact is a lot of the young audience love Gemma, see themselves in her and want to be her friend, in a way they don’t with Indiyah and so they don’t have the same safety net of votes.

It fucks me off because Indiyah (IMO) has a much better personality then Gemma. Indiyah is warm and bubbly whereas Gemma can be quite cold.

I think Luca has been worse than Dami now tbh. Indiyah clearly doesn’t give a tit about what he did in Casa, where as Gemma clearly does give a tit about how Luca treats her.

i still don’t think luca is as hated as people think. has he even been in the bottom for individual islander? no. he’s almost on 800k instagram followers. fiat 500 will back him all the way. so will face book mums. they love him. the guy still has loads of fans and people forget that and just start focusing on twitter opinions when twitter doesn’t account for all of the vote at all. tick tock love him, instagram people love him, facebook love him. he still has a lot of fans lol
