I think the reference visiting the Pineapple store as being the epitome of her own "dance mum" identity very much highlights how much she is living her own unachieved childhood dreams vicariously thru Darcy. she seems to correlate being a "REAL dance mum" with spending extortionate amounts of money on trips to London, summer dance classes, buying elaborate tutus for photoshoots - because creating content from her self-deemed "dance mum" status is a fundamental aspect of her role. Pineapple was a brand of dancewear that used to be super popular, and obvs Louise still perceives it as such, when in actuality, there are probably actually being the current popular brand of dancewear that are way more on trend, and the clothes Darcy wants to wear - yet doesn't feel able to speak up for herself.
i tried to watch the latest vlog, but got bored with the homesick whinging - and also the way she showed a tour of her fancy hotel room, claiming that the smaller twin bed room was perfect as a cheaper option for her and Darcy to spend a few days in London - in comparison to the fancy suite they booked for their recent girl gang sleepover, as though an affordable option wouldn't be staying in a holiday inn! but ofc tha simply isn't of the required standard for Lady Louise. ultimately, from Louise's perspective, being a "REAL dance mum" is about spending money, dressing up, photo shoots and exploiting her daughter's hobby as a way to create content, and form herself a whole new identity.
and i think many of you are right in terms of Pearlie having far more potential in dance - it's great that both girls seems to enjoy it as a hobby, but Pearl seems to have a sense of inner confidence and boldness that D doesn't, partly because D is so worried about pleasing Louise and getting it "right", with all the pressure placed on her since birth to perform on social media by Louise - but also knowing that her hobby is used as content, thus thousands of total strangers are invested in her dancing, and Louise has made no secret of the fact that she has high expectations for Darcy to succeed in a career in dancing/singing/acting/performing which will push her into focusing on needing it be the best and perfectionism and likely cause anxiety etc, which is not going to make her dance experience a fun or positive one!
Pearl's dancing seems to be more overlooked, at least at the moment, as Louise has already determine that Diamond Darcy will the star - in this situation tho, it will likely work in her benefit, as it allows her to just participate in dance and enjoy it, and she is far more likely to thrive without being fully roped into Louise's "dance mum" identity. Pearl generally refuses to comply with Louise's demands that she pose in tutus etc, thus her priority on content means her focus is on Doodles, who is more malleable and will pose and smile and perform as Louise wants. Pearl started dancing at a younger age, so if it is a hobby she genuinely enjoys, i would imagine she has far more potential, plus her confidence and energy and fiesty personality shines thru in a way that makes her dancing appear more natural, whereas - whilst I don't know enough about technique to comment - Darcy’s dancing comes across as quite rigid and posed, more like she is acting a part than dancing because she truly loves it - Pearl's smiles and facical expressions when she is twirling around radiate genuine happiness, whereas Darcy’s expressions often appear more forced, fake smiles because she knows it's part of the performance, not because it is reflective of her genuine emotion.
it will be sad if Darcy ends up losing her initial passion for dance simply because Louise was so focused on making it such a huge part of her own personality that the risk of it feeling more like a chore, with such expectation that Darcy's dancing creates content for Louise, it takes the fun out of it all, and ruins her hobby for her - all a result of unnecessary pressure and expectations and sharing every moment of her dancing on IG for the world to see etc, so that even if she no longer enjoys it she will likely still feel she has to continue with it because Louise won't want to give up her "dance mum" content.
