Re Andrew Ridgeley - this from Popbitch last week…

Netflix’s new documentary on Wham! is a gorgeous snapshot of the friendship between George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. There’s hundreds of stories about the bond they shared, but here’s another nice one we heard.

During Robbie Williams’ first coke bloat era (post-Take That; Glastonbury with the Gallaghers) he found himself at Jimmyz nightclub in Monte Carlo where he saw George Michael on the dance floor. Aware that every boy band member who went solo always said something along the lines of “I want to be the next George Michael!” Robbie thought it might be funny to turn that whole trope on its head.

So he went up to George and said: “I wanna be the next Andrew Ridgeley…”

A line which not only failed to raise a smile out of George, but caused George to look Robbie dead in the eye and snap: “DON’T take the piss out of Andrew.”

He’s a dick head and I say that as a life long Take That fan. Good for George 😍

For once, I agree with Kèllè. Life is precious and although rape victims should absolutely have the option of abortion, we shouldn't open the floodgates to the killing of babies in such a nonchalant way. Home abortions are also dangerous for the mother.

Coleen seems to be in favour of the legal ruling. I also note that she doesn't believe that lesbian or homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt. I didn't know that she had an abortion at 16. That must have been conflicting with her Irish/Catholic background.

A swear word is a swear word. Ofcom don't make allowances for context.

They showed a clip from Hollyoaks on This Morning where a homophobic character called a gay character a q*eer something or other

They obviously had no problem showing it that time of a morning as it was in context of the theme of the storyline however if Alison or Dermot had said it to a gay guest on the sofa there might have been uproar (presuming the gay guest hadn’t given their permission for that word to be used)

So yes context does sometimes come in to it

Yes the do, there's a whole section on context in their documentation - https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0023/91625/OfcomQRG-AOC.pdf
Seriously, I can't believe I need to say this. 🤣 It doesn't matter if someone says "I'm buggered" or "bugger off", curse words are not allowed before the 9pm watershed. Oh my days. 🤦‍♀️

I don't believe queer is a curse word. Trisha Goddard said her daughter identifies as queer on Loose Women and there was no apology.

Have you even bothered reading the article I linked? It clearly states that bugger is not normally of any concern under their own guidelines, to quote "Mild language, generally of little concern. Frequently used in everyday language to express emotion when making a mistake. Seen as much stronger when used in a clearly sexual context.". Other words are clearly marked as not suitable for pre watershed. It's absolutely fine unless used in a clearly fine unless used in a clearly sexual context or similar.

Nadia is going to be today’s anchor (just seen the preview on This Morning).

I don’t think I’ve seen her anchor the show before
