Very interesting. Nadia Sawalha also took a hiatus earlier this year, when Kaye was disputing her employment status for tax reasons. Many Tattlers suspected iT was her dodging tax.

That said, Carol is business savvy, she knows how the game works. I wonder if she has been ordered to curb her opinions.

I would imagine it was her opinions as well as contract issues. They couldn’t contain her.
 
ITV / HMRC want them to become employees on the payroll. It means they will have to pay tax at 40% if a higher rate tax payer, compared to 19% until this tax year, now 25%. This was possible through working via their own limited company.

They like to moan about the state of the NHS, schools, etc....but don't want to contribute like the rest of us mere mortals do.

I know but in tv land you are allowed to be left wing, but being too right wing is a no no. She is very right wing and sometimes you could see her struggling to hold it in. I didn’t like some of what she said but there should be a broad range of views expressed. She is mates with Dan Wooten which makes me raise an eyebrow at her character wise, but she should be there for balance.

Sounds like a tax issue as Flower outlined above. I wonder if any others will be thinking of their position?

She mentions in her column that they didn’t seem to want her on the tour. She was offered one spot but was available for more.
 
There's something more going on with this, especially the tour comment. She's right to speak out, remember this isn't Carol's first departure from LW. Frankly though the contract terms make none of them look anything other than greedy complaining about tax at a rate that anyone over 40k has to pay in Scotland anyway. Some of these women are muppets and still take in 3k per appearance thanks to Janet. At least Carol had an opinion, unlike the many wet blankets (frankie is a classic) and loose Cannons like Linda and compulsive liar Nadia. though I do think she was increasingly intolerant of others. Denise is as much a coiled spring.
 
Inwonder if there is much jealousy about the number of spots some of them get? The ones who have money like Christine, Ruth, Janet etc probably don’t get upset, but the ones with minimal work or not much on probably look askance at those coining it in from appearances. Colleen Nolan has been on loads recently. Three times in one week - £9K thank you very much.

I know there is a whole Madeleine thread, but whilst I feel for the parents because it must be an unbearable grief, why does no one talk about the fact they literally left their very young kids alone to go out? The panel all saying you feel relaxed on holiday isn't an excuse for basic safeguarding. Had the McCanns not been attractive, white, middle-class professionals they would have been crucified. It was a shocking error of judgment. Sorry, I digress and this is the wrong thread but just saying.
 
What do people think of Denise's podcast? I am loving it. She is not at all humble, which is refreshing in Britain as there is a culture of self deprotection here.

I love the backstage segment she did at Loose Women. It does look like a fun place to be backstage.

I am also enjoying hearing about her going to drama school and how she became a qualified actress. She has earned her status, unlike Coleen Nolan who had a one hit wonder as a kid and has sat on the coat tails of that ever since.

I like DW but don’t think I could take a whole podcast. I think they are quite long? She is full on, in small doses entertaining but not sure I can listen to her unleashed.

They vary in length, some 20 minutes, some more. Lincoln often does it with her and some one called 'DK' features on it too. The ones with Lincoln tend to have him in the title/description. There is also the occasional guest, someone called Courtney Veale was on it but I don't have a clue who she is!
