Had to switch off. The Meghan & Harry thing is now so boring. And Frankie putting her low mood on Instagram is just her showing off. I must remember to film a sad face later. I am feeling a bit low myself. Who are they kidding? It’s like when celebs film themselves at the hospital, with their best sad face. Where’s their dignity, and empathy for others who really do have stuff to moan about.
Re H & M - If the whinging twosome really wanted to get their story across they could have said we are getting x million from Netflix, and we are giving it to charity. And the RF can have their titles back, we want no part of this institution. But they didn’t, and they won’t. They want an alternative court, and they no there will be no comeback from the RF. They wanted to write platitudes on prostitutes bananas and for the world to think they were marvellous, and their egos couldn’t take it when people scoffed at that.
They are also obsessed with money. That’s why they are keeping the titles, it’s their selling point. So many people suffering in the world now, but these two have hurty feelings, and don’t we know it. Will this series be them drawing a line under it and moving on? Oh no, forgot Harry’s book is coming out in January. Sigh. He has called it Spare. Should have called it Spare, the diaries of a Ginger Whinger Part One. Note to self, don’t bother watching LW for weeks when that comes out.
A lot of black people will side with Meghan because they feel a connection to her. (A lot will also see through her.) Meghan has nothing in common with most black people, including Charlene and Judi. She doesn’t look like them, so she would not have faced the same overt racism as them. She was brought up by her white father. Her black mother does not seem to have been a guiding force in her upbringing, only latterly being present. Her friends, apart from the famous ones she has now acquired because of her title, are white. Both her husbands are white. She looks white, she has white friends and family who were prevalent in her life are/were white. She has had more opportunities than others. She is to all intents and purposes white. So why black people stick up for her so vociferously is bewildering. Out of all the anti-racist protests that could be made, sticking up for Meghan should be way down the list.

Not sure where you live but in London this is very common, unfortunately. I even know primary school teachers who speak like this, things like "you was" etc. It annoys me but Linda is much worse!
And the whole conversation about the "husband creche" , that has been done on pub sings for about a decade at this point, it often seems atm they are running out of ideas for topics

Charlene likes to think she is on the side of the righteous. And yet within weeks of meeting Matt Hancock she was voluntarily cuddling him for a photo after the jungle. This after relaying her anger before at how Covid was handled and the personal effect it had on her family with the loss of her aunt. So much for oft repeated principles then.
I like Judi, she’s actually quite a wise person. She must have educational qualifications because she was a social worker. But she doesn’t speak in an educated way. But then, loads of people don’t these days.

She has 2 degrees - Community Arts and Social Science and a Masters in Social Work.

I am behind on LW as I've not been able to watch it much recently so I look at comments on here instead. I had a look on Charlene's Instagram yesterday to see the outfit mentioned on here - not one of my favourite on her. The boots looked awful with the dress. I think she looked really good in the bright orange dress she wore on her first show after the jungle. She can carry that colour off.
Judi's dodgy grammar makes me flinch but I can look past it with her because she's so appealing in other ways. She speaks a lot of sense, she's funny and doesn't try and talk over people like several others on the show. She has natural charisma and doesn't need to ride roughshod over people to be heard. People listen to her anyway.
I always feel like Charlene really wants to be liked but the way she engages with the audience often just sounds patronising instead.
I didn't see the one where Janet said she would go to the front of a queue but it doesn't surprise me. She has an ego our Janet.

Judi's lovely, the one who cannot speak properly is Linda, God only knows why they keep her on, she's a bleeping liability.

Even though Judi is likeable and funny I don’t think it’s an excuse for her lazy poor speech. She has kids and it would be a shame if they spoke like her.
If her kids don’t have her talents to get away with this it will hold them back.
Linda is far worse and she has been discussed many times for this.
We have all picked on Judi’s way of speaking so it’s noticeable.

it's interesting to me that people are so surprised by Judi's accent, I live in south London and probably half the people around me speak like her
Anyway, anyone have any idea who's on today?

It’s where she’s from? It’s regional dialect you can’t moan at someone because you’re not from the same part of the country so you don’t like how they talk
I am a teacher (to adults) Mostly I teach English to non native speakers, especially advanced english to go uni. But as part of this I also teach native English speakers, you would be surprised at the English level of a lot of people. It is not laziness, it is genuinley that people have not learned correctly

Some regions are worse for it. In South Yorkshire, where I grew up, they say things such as nowt instead of nothing. Allus instead of always and they pronounce words such as sandals as sandels!
I think Judi's pronounciation is part of her comedy act. She also gets very excitable when speaking which can cause slurring.
Of course, you shouldn't write a university level essay using language like that but it is very difficult to get rid of ingrained habits, imagine being 50 years old and having to change how you have been using language your entire life?
