La Fraser's recent words accompanying the mother and pram post:
“Thank you, mum ….. [y]ou can't give anything better to a person than a love of the pursuit of learning, of trying to make sense of it all, of sharing ideas with others, asking questions of them to learn more, and of living life the best and fullest we can.”
Au contraire, papillon de nuit, I think you can.
Pursuit of learning etc is all well and good, but I think there are plenty of other things the chiselled-jawed mother could have (should have!) passed on to La Fraser which could have made her a much better – and more fulfilled - person than the vain vacuous woman we see on SM. You have to wonder what sort of a mother ends up with a daughter whose life priorities seem start with being seriously underweight and end with shagging other people’s husbands, with precious little of merit in between.
And - slight topic change here - I don’t know why you ladies are incensed about how she supports herself. She’s an AirBnB landlady, people! She tidies, does laundry, cleans the bathroom, vacuums the white floors and does ‘admin’, for which she no doubt receives a handsome rental fee - less expenses. While 'you lot' are bantering at work and working diligently to climb the career ladder, she's checking there are enough toilet rolls chez Fraser to last a family of four for 3 days. It’s an honest enough way to make a living (if we gloss over whose money funded the property purchases). And, for you clever ladies, Liz's post-Uni trajectory could well be Newton’s 3rd Law in action. (The one about equal and opposite reactions, or whatever.) Liz has a degree from Cambridge and her ‘work’ involves the somewhat menial task of cleaning the crapper for her guests, while I have a degree from a tit northern Poly and have worked consistently for many a year at a professional level!
And my mother didn’t even teach me to work that one out! (Neither did she teach me to cook, but that's another matter!)
