Also Italian trattorias - if she joins them for lunch- which would be EXTRAORDINARILY rude not to on a retreat…. are typically relaxed, very busy and go at their own pace. If you’re in the middle of a retreat you’re probably better off block booking higher end restaurants so you can be calmly sat and served ( considering the busy action packed retreat day ) because otherwise a lunch could easily eat a whole afternoon by waiting for your table, slow busy service, coffees etc.
Liz, as we know you are reading this, you CANNOT take paying guests for a tramezzino ham sandwich on the lido.
they will OBVIOUSLY also be expecting delicious Italian cuisine ! Please don’t go for runs in the middle of lunch leaving them in the lurch in a foreign country having to stick to a random ‘timetable’
