Little Mix #11 Angel Of My Dreams

Not Perrie releasing another break up songs while engaged with a child. This is why people aren't buying into her she's not authentic. It's different with Little Mix but she's now the brand.
I can’t say how I know, but it’s another song that’s been handed to her with no input from her… not really sure what’s going on behind the scenes, but her not stepping away from team LM is really showing imo.

It doesn’t seem like she or anyone around her actually understands how to market her.

She basically said "the first time she heard the song she wanted to record it right away".

So clearly not writing her own music. I think that makes the difference. She is not relatable. Leigh Anne tried but she's writing about Andre back on the day ... And we all know how well that's going. They both went for the boyfriend angle first.

I dont think that writing your own music makes you more authentic - Off the top of my head, Beyonce doesn't write most if not all of her songs, she just takes credit. Whitney never wrote her songs. Kelly Clarkson heavily uses songwriters and gets credits for changing a word... the list goes on. There's many many artists who use songwriters successfully but they pick songs that are authentic to them and that's not what perrie does, she picks songs she likes and thinks will be hits but they're all a bit meh - very generic support act material.

Those girls never have had good taste (except Jade) their favourites were always the fans least favourites and the fan faves were their least favourite.

Completely agree. Kelly, Beyonce etc. might not write all their own songs but they pick songs they can convey passion and emotion through or at least seem like they connect with. All the songs we’ve heard from Perrie so far have been very superficial and one-dimensional. At least Leigh-Anne (although misguided) seems to actually believe in the songs she’s releasing.

It’s a shame because Perrie has such an amazing voice but she seriously lacks any other qualities to make her a star, and since she’s gone solo it’s become glaringly obvious why she was put in a group in the first place. I still think she’d be much better placed in musical theatre but tbh I don’t think she has the drive or determination to be doing 7/8 show weeks 😅

What is Midnight Cowboy, if not a single?

It’s a promotional single, they’re aimed at fans rather than the gp, doesn’t usually come with the full promo run an official single would do (interviews, physicals, performances etc.).
Ah, thank you. That makes sense. I've never paid much attention to what's an official single or not 😯 Either I love the artist and listen to everything they put out, or I'm a casual listener and just take what's on the radio/Spotify playlists.

I was wondering this too, thanks for answering. I guess it's like a single song EP then? Interested to hear it as there'll be a reason this wasn't chosen to have a proper promo run. I find myself feeling like a Jade fan already despite never really being a fan of LM

Sometimes it can be as simple as keeping an artists monthly listeners stable whilst they get ready for the next single.

They’re also sometimes aimed at gaining interest from people coming across it on streaming/socials to gain more interest in the album coming up. So basically the song is a form of promo in itself for the artist, and it’s usually something that there isn’t space for on the album but deemed good enough to still put out.

yeah, i think Jade pulled in enough new listeners with AOMD that it's smart to release some promo singles, just to keep people interested - especially if the next proper single isn't coming until November. plus I don't think there's a single radio station Jade didn't hit during the AOMD promo, so there's really not much else she could do promo wise right now!

it looks like Perrie is adding the ballad she's teased as a b-side to the physicals for her new single, it kinda feels like this is going to be her team's last big push to get her a hit, i think she'll lose a lot of her budget if this one doesn't live up to whatever expectations her label has.
