That aftershave she has on her 5 faves is £170!!! I would want the actual Tom Hardy for that price!
Perhaps Theo or another family member will be getting it wrapped for christmas??

How come she can do a shoot tomorrow but I cant get my hair cut? Because she is 'allowed' ??? what does that even mean? Also 5 Faves - what an absolute waste of time - hey guys, look at these things, swipe up and earn me some money!!!

Unless they have all been Covid-tested (which I can’t imagine they have) then it shouldn’t really be allowed... kind of takes the piss a bit... even if it is classed as “work”...

This is what I wondered a few posts back, she’s not the only more well known makeup artist that is working? I wondered if it’s to do with them doing magazines and tv work? I imagine they still need it e.g Lisa Armstrong is still doing strictly makeup

Did it stress anyone else out watching her curl her hair in the live from last week? She was curling like upside down the usual way, grabbing random bits and literally holding the heat on it for a second!

Exactly! It's so boring just a revolving ad for living proof, murad and some other brands peppered in on top. Absolutely tone deaf to current times.

It's depressing to watch given the circumstances a lot of people are in. I've unfollowed a few MUA-turned influencers for the same reason. Seems like they are being gifted insane amounts of products in the run up to Christmas, even more than usual. They don't even know what they are reviewing, they just film themselves squealing unboxing one luxury item after another.

Completely agree.
I get that they’re doing these zoom events or whatever because they can’t host the usual events to launch their products. If the products are as good as they’re always hyped up by these influencers to be, launch them without the massive influencer fan fare. Do a normal ad along the lines of the boots no7 range do when they bring out something new.

Spend the money that’s sunk on schmoozing people who don’t have any worries about where their next meal is coming from on meals for homeless people or donations to food banks or charities supporting people who have lost their jobs.
Not meaning to be doom and gloom but given the current circumstances we are only going to see more and more people unemployed and struggling.
I’d rather give my money to a company doing something to help than spending money on fancy cookies / dinner / cocktail vans to go to influencers houses. It’s just gross.

I do wonder if the influencer bubble will soon burst. Surely with the current climate and brands seeming to be more conscious of their impact on the environment that they may start to rethink how they advertise. There is absolutely no need for the likes of Lisa to be gifted £1000s worth of products from huge brands like John Lewis, just for her to upload a 20 second story. I really do hope that if these brands have learnt anything that is to respect their loyal customers rather than greedy influencers.

I do hope the bubble will burst - for all sorts of different reasons. These MUA all seem to be pushing the same expensive products, with expensive and non environmentally friendly packaging. Its no good saying 'I recycle it all' in one breath and that 'David Attenborough is my hero' in another and then clawing open an expensive #gifted box of more stuff. The constant stream of gifts is now obscene and if anything, makes me want to avoid the product!

I keep thinking it will but in some ways it seems to be getting worse! I don't know why they send them to some many MUA-influencers because it is literally a few seconds of them whooping, ripping open the packaging, stroking the bottles, then adding an AFF swipe up, and then ripping into the next one. Most of the time they don't even know what's inside the box before they open it or even show themselves using it.

I can’t see the influencer bubble bursting anytime soon. The brands must save so much money paying influencers to advertise on social media rather than hiring actors, film crew and doing an advert for tv and paying to have it between programmes and in mags. For me personally I would see something advertised by say lpd over a tv advert because I’m on Instagram more than I watch tv so I can see why they use influencers. It would be nice to see some less known makeup artists be gifted the makeup and actually see it used on clients or themselves for a full look r show us how to use it etc rather than someone showing a few swatches of it or spending a few second saying how beautiful it is before moving on to the next gifted item!

"Dawn works for me and has done for a year". Proof that Ms PD reads on here. Unless one of her followers asked the question - I dont think so. Well Lisa, what about understanding your clients - you know, the ones that PAY you to promote their products like Aromoatherapy Associates. Fancy not knowing that they make candles?? You only just realised? Either you are a fool or they are!!!

Seems to be how most influencers work. They can spout absolute drivel and will say anything if they are being paid and can get as many people as possible to swipe up on an ad or a link. Bank account comes first!
