It’s also really bugging me that everyone on Twitter was like ‘what does CHIS mean? lol’ when I’m sure they’ve used that acronym in past series?
My husband says they haven’t which is annoying, but I’ve definitely heard it before. Not repeatedly like it was in this episode but they’ve definitely said it, I just can’t remember which season/episode. Also in context it was pretty obvious what it meant, even if you didn’t know what the exact acronym stood for. 🙄

It hasn’t been used before and usually cop shows just say “informant”. Line of Duty seems obsessed with acronyms the viewer can’t hope to understand (Google yes). It’s baffling.

And whilst, yes, you (generic) could take a guess at what type of person is being referred to, when it’s used quite so often, you want to know what the actual letters stand for. It’s so silly.

My friend is an officer and can’t watch it because she says police just don’t speak like this.

I loved it. Good to see Terry is ok (although in it up to his neck). Was yelling at the tv that he had the body in the freezer!

I think the slowish start that another posted referred to really represented Steve and Ted not being happy, things being slow in AC12. Soon picked up though - that stop to sort out the armed robbery and the flat not being covered for 3 1/2 hours was dodgy.

With Jo, was the other name not her emergency contact, who would presumably be the mother? Jo's name was at the top of the folder, the other name was a 'Mrs Samantha Davidson'. Jo's year of birth was 1979 so she would be 41/42 now.

I wonder if Farida will be a gonner soon? It did look like Jo was pushing to charge Terry for Gail's murder to get it resolved, but then again isn't that what happened with Roz in series 4?

It did take me a lifetime to work out that Kate wasn't undercover, couldn't understand why she was using her proper surname?

CHIS was definitely used in season 5

Ooh could be her mum! Now I will have to watch again to double check!

Maybe not by blood, but judging by that very convenient photo of her mum, I reckon there must be some sort of relationship.
I’m thinking her mum is John Corbett’s mum from series 5 - Anne Marie.
Someone shared this on Twitter, they look very alike.

Yes they 100% used it previously in season 5 at least as I've just finished watching them lol

Clutching at straws here. Do you think Jo and Tommy are related?

That was what I said to my partner. I think it’s possible!

Let’s not forget they just showed series 2 again, where Tommy is killed in the hospital. Why did they show series 2 and not series 5?

Everyone was calling the DCI Jo, but in the paperwork the bearded, waistcoat wearing Steve had, her first name was Samantha!

I thought that initially, but I googled it and others are saying if you pause it, Samantha is listed as her next of kin. So the question is, who is Samantha? Her mum?

I was disappointed that Steve & Kate didn't have a rendezvous in a subway.
Otherwise mostly I think Steve should trim his beard & wear less foundation, Kate however is looking great & I love her hair.
I don't think anyone used the phrase "bent coppers" which was likewise disappointing!
I was missing the subway too 😞 New rendezvous point appears to be 'on the hill'.

Regarding the acronyms, I wish they would do the same as in newspapers and other texts: say it in full the first time, then refer to it in acronym form thereafter.

It does feel a bit like they're throwing them in on purpose now. I seem to spend too much time trying to figure them out, missing subsequent dialogue in the process. No wonder I get confused 😂
