Neil Morrissey is DC Nigel Morton, the one with the walking stick that was with Gates and Dot in season one and then dropped Dot in it in season three.

I think it was Jimmy Lakewell. I think Nigel Morton will definitely be an important part in all of this, whether he appears on screen is another story. He knew way too much about organised crime when Dot was involved.

I thought it was Jimmy too, it sounded a lot like him and like something he would say too. I think he’d still be in Blackthorn but perhaps she visited him... there are a fair few in Blackthorn still I think

Yep, that was him. It was properly phlegmy too. And Dot gave her a tissue to wipe it.

Yep, he kept his finger in all the pots, sold stories to the media, I think he definitely needs to be an integral part even if he isn’t shown on screen. I think I’d be quite disappointed if we didn’t get to know a little more from him if this is the last series.

Jane Akers had a Scottish accent. He could have been talking to her. She worked for AC-9 witness protection.

Yep I am rewatching - Morton kept a phone and SIM card belonging to Dot. Love the theory that he was working with Gail Vella.

End of series 3 he was mowing his lawn in a large and fancy house and it said he'd retired on full pension and disability benefits.

He was also really close friends with Gates and since Gates was involved with Jackie Laverty in their younger days I wonder if he was an acquaintance of hers also?
