I honestly think Lily should shut the duck up and stick to her lane of talking about body hair, shaving and dandruff. No one needs to hear her thoughts because she is stupid, oblivious and dumb.

I mean what else can she say? “It was a dark weekend, my heart is broken”…*AD break*

Nanna on Monday be like “thoughts and prayer, sending you *good vibes*…*AD break* …*empties**…

I bursted out laughing reading this so thank you for that.

If you're still expecting influencers or certain celebs/influencers/figureheads/ppl you know to acknowledge something awful when they've shown you to just at best provide performative action at best, well, I'm sorry to say but fool on YOU.

Does it affect half the population of a country who is considered the superpower and who unfortunately influences the rest of the world? Yes. However you're seeing in real time, exactly how middle class and people in power act when atrocities occur anywhere else in the world at anytime in history. That's not to say there are middle class people and some with influence out there protesting and doing things behind the scenes, but we all know at this point who are the ones that do the work and who are living to just live their lives for themselves and for many influencers (not all) its the latter.

Yes this is a gossip board and you can voice your dismay at your fave influencer once again not acting in the face of injustice but those of us who actually read and engage on this board can also call you out for delusion. I see no diff between that line of thinking and those who stay with crappy friends or partners hoping they will change their behaviour when they've shown you all along who they are.

Well said!

Since I’m the one who rolled her eyes at Lily’s failure to acknowledge Roe:

It’s reasonable to hope/appreciate that someone with a platform and significant following takes a moment to post a slide containing resources. Rolling your eyes when they don’t and talk about chocolate instead is also reasonable. That’s it. It’s not deep tit.

As for your lecture: No one here is hanging their head in deep sorrow for their revered Lily’s inaction while crossing their fingers she gets it right next tragedy because we need her in this fight!!!! Also doubtful that anyone here needs it explained to them how the middle class operates and the machinations of power and protest but go off letting people know what dumbasses they are for beliefs no has expressed recently here? I mean I guess you’re just using this as an opportunity to speak in a general way about behavior you’ve seen at another time, I don’t know, but it is pretty condescending as put.

The problem with influencers like Lily not speaking on issues like this is they’re perfectly happy to use feminism to promote themselves and further their brands (Lily wrote a whole-ass book about ~female friendship~ let’s not forget), but when it comes to actual issues that could have a real affect on them and their followers, they are silent for fear of ‘being controversial’. Celebrating International Women’s Day but staying silent on the overturning of our reproductive rights? Nah. They deserve calling out.

Exactly, just because they’re dicks and don’t say anything of substance doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be hassled about their own privilege and lack of acknowledgement of it. Lily uses the cultural zeitgeist to make money, but she doesn’t use her platform in that space to do anything positive, literally duck all.

Yet she uses feminism to write a book and tout her husband / family’s cool modernism bc he is caring for his own kid, and BLM to pull focus to her Jewish roots that she refused to talk about before or since.

But I suspect Lily does not give a tit about this in particular - she’s not bright enough to recognize this is not only about abortion but human rights, racial, environmental, and economic inequities. I can also see her not being pro choice.

Finally, I end my rant with this: those Lindt berry chocolates have been around for years, I remember we first bought them for a road trip around France in 2017. She’s even behind the times when it comes to snacks, so lame!

Darlings, you wouldn’t buy a copy of InStyle and expect an in depth essay on the rail strikes either. Their accounts are fluff and fluff only.

No one has said anything about wanting or expecting deepthink from Lily and her ilk. That's not what any of the above posts are about. Repetitive helpful reminders of what an influencer is or isn't aren't needed.

You’re right. Maybe I’m just tired of being disappointed with how tokenistic and self serving it sounds when they actually say something on current affairs.

Except that the InStyle home page is featuring an article about a woman’s personal experience of her state banning abortion. And their top trending articles right now are those published in the last 6 months about reproductive rights.
