For an experiment I'd love to see James and Nick swap slots then compare and contrast figures. And just for shits and giggles then try the same but with AI Robots who aggregate all the guff on talkradio and present the resulting confection.

It would be a disaster.

Nick's show is fast paced. He normally has about 2 or 3 topics on the go at once, travel reports, news, adverts and the odd politician to contend with. His show is quite superficial really.

James meanwhile does one topic an hour most of which is taken up by his own musings. He likes to dissect, analyse and pontificate (and promote his books).

As I said, they're both good at what they do and appeal to different audiences.

Steve Allen in his Bit Extra podcast this morning mentioned the RAJARS very briefly. Although he professes to understand NOTHING whatsoever about how they are compiled, apparently his audience share has increased yet again and he is biggest listened to show at that time of the day.

This will rile the naysayers on the dark side who have been condemning him as nothing less than a dinosaur, and calling for his complete cancellation for the last five years. They are reveling in the Ferrari / O'Brien ratings at the moment however.

The call with 'Andy' was brilliant ... LOL. I think James' intention was to belittle him and embarrass him, but Andy stuck to his guns ... I mean nothing he said made much sense, but he was ernest in his belief and did make one good point: "You won't ever change your opinion about Brexit whatever I say". It must be so depressing for Jimbo ... well, maybe not insofar he's carved out a career from it.

People have been righting off Steve for years and yet his audience figures would suggest that they are the ones who are out of touch. He's not everyones cup of tea but seeing as he's on at 4am in the morning he's pretty easy to avoid.

I like a bit of Boris bashing too but he really can't help himself, can he? The insecurity just shines through all the bravado. Still hoping to get the Harkles on Full Disclosure now the barrel is being well and truly scraped.

The last couple of hours of Jumbo's show today were ok. Biggest disasters at work followed by of course, Delilah.

I do find the Delilah thing weird how some songs gain traction for being inappropriate and the vast majority of songs with 'problematic lyrics' no one bats an eye lid. Baby It's Cold Outside was another one. personally I don't care I'll still enjoy Delilah and I'm sure the crowd will still sing it.

Has no one ever listened to the words of Bohemian Rhapsody, White Lines, Every Breath You Take, Coward of The County, I Did What I Did For Maria ?? etc etc

Yeah. How people can dislike Steve, but actively decide to listen to him at 4am in the morning is a bit nuts.

The only thing that grinds my gears with steve at times is when he speaks about salaries for public sector workers. he definitely lives on a different planet when it comes to understanding "normal" people's salaries. he himself would definitely be in the top % of earners in the uk.

Never fail to be amused at people who sneer at others they claim are manipulated by the media, take at face value a heavily screened caller put through for O'Brien to bully.

Pretty gross wasn't it. Not sure what kind of person takes pleasure from listening to that, or even treating another person like that. I presume you mean the caller called 'Andy'. It's people like Andy that actually keep this country running while James procrastinates over his latest tit book.

James spends far too much time with callers like Andy or the other one he had today, Vince. They really don't contribute anything to the debate and James just keeps them on the line for his own amusement in the hope it will lead to a video clip for LBC Twitter feed.

Vince managed to make the the Welsh Rugby Union banning Delilah into some part of a global conspiracy.

I think Andy did well to stand his ground and challenge O'B who needed to be soothed by a devoted fangirl caller afterwards and reassured that he wiped the floor with the idiots' corner candidate.

James really has no idea what goes on in the average workplace up and down the country and the kind of people who work in it. Hate to sound condescending but people like Andy are the poor sods who end up 'going over the top' in the trenches so people like James can (pretend) to study poetry.

Do you know the words to 'Half a Sixpence'
:D

Crash! Bang! Wallop! What a picture!
