Steve talking about swimming pools and boats being a waste of money yesterday is the most enlightening lbc gets all day. The cost to heat a tiny pool a day must cover the full membership of a fancy health club for the whole family with multiple pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, rackets and with no maintenance!

James O'Brian was behaving like a school boy today when discussing Steve Bray. Laughing at his antics.

I think the police were right. Everyone has the right to protest but not for years on end and preventing people going about their business.

I presume most people hear the ads in one ear and out of the other, particularly if they are of no immediate concern. Recently there was a series of ads for a company called Car Key Solutions, in East Finchley. At the time I thought no more about it as I didn't have any need of them. A few weeks ago I was driving in that direction and happened to notice them en route. Again I thought no more about them other than 'oh that must be the company that I heard advertising on LBC'. As I had no need of them, again any thoughts of them dropped. However, my car key stopped working properly last week. My garage fixed it but a few days later went wrong again. I took the key back to them this morning, but he could do no more.

Then, I thought what was the name of the company that used to advertise on LBC ......yup !!!!! I went there. They have (I hope) fixed it! I mentioned to the guy on the desk that I heard about the company on LBC ...err.. the radio. He looked at me blankly! So either 'The Boss' placed the advert and didn't tell his staff, or I have got the wrong company !!!!!

I am so happy I've found this thread! I've been an LBC listener for about 10 years and sometimes I just need to offload but I've nobody to moan with!

James O'B winds me up a treat but I hate to admit he seems to have mellowed slightly since I first listened to him. I used to love Nick Abbott on weekend nights as I seem to have memories of his show being fairly apolitical and just a bit bonkers, but I tuned in recently after a five year long break and it was disappointingly political and just covered the same old shite that everyone else had talked about that day.

Glad we're out of the depths of Covid because I had to turn my radio off for a couple of years. Not quite sure how the same topic can be discussed 24/7 for two years but somehow they managed it and my God was it boring.

Natasha Devon last night was a prime example, she even used some of Jimbo's material. Her little rant the other week about Britiain being a 'silly little island full of racists' doesn't exactly bring people together does it. Last night she was basically slagging-off Boris for being a narcissist, that's a bit rich coming from someone working in commerical broadcast media who clearly loves the sound of their own voice. LOL. You couldn't really make it up.
She is an abysmal broadcaster. I listened for a bit when she first arrived. Never again!

You can moan away here ... we are all ears.

There were times during Covid I had to turn off for days at a time because I just couldn't listen all day everyday. I still do at times. Non stop dressing news is quite a drain.

No such issues with Steve Allen. 😁

I don't think I've ever listened to Steve Allen! I usually have it on while at work and rarely start before 9, but next time I awake unusually early (for me!) I will give him a try.

That fellow is crowd-funded to the tune of six figures £££££££

Try the podcast ... you can listen to it on the way to or back from work. As for Covid ... I used to call Eddie Mair's show: "The Eddie Mair Death Hour" ... he'd just read death stats the whole time, sprinkled with a few callers with harrowing stories of death. Made 'Our Tune' with Simon Bates back in the day seem quite up beat. 😁

You have your moan; you may find some people actually agree with you !!

Welcome. We are a friendly lot here. We don't bite ..... well not much!!

If you have only been listening for 10 years you are a 'baby listener' . I have been listening for almost 49 years! I have heard LBC in all its incarnations. Presenters who come and go. Management who also come and go etc. etc.

Welcome and as Fenella has said we manage to be a friendly lot.

On the subject of LBC whilst he was no doubt well paid by the BBC Andrew Castle did not exactly get universal acclaim for his tennis commentary tonight.

Brian O'Chiswick is a parody poster.
So increasingly is James....

Oh, thank you! I'll check it out. My God, as if anyone wants to listen to that while they're at work/driving/doing the housework/whatever it may be! So depressing.

Thank you :) Wow, 49 years! I didn't even know it'd be going 49 years. I started listening when my dad got me a radio when I went off to uni. Initially I thought I'd get no use out of it but he swore I'd grow to love it and he was right!

The original LBC (London Broadcasting Company) started on 8 October 1973. For some weeks before, they had musical test transmissions. A lot of people were disappointed that when the station started there was no music !

I'd love to see some of those comments! Andrew 'Mr. Vanilla Mid-Atlantic' man, desperately in search of a personality. I laughed so hard a few weeks ago when a caller criticized him for never having had a proper job and he said: "I WAS Britain's number one tennis player" ... I thought to myself, who on earth was number 2? Christian from accounting? British tennis was the laughing stock of Europe when he played.
