Yeah, you're probably right. I think I was partly thinking about all the old men who run the Middle East and the rest of the World. You're right, the media landscape is much more feminine these days. The Marina Purkiss' and Emily Sheffield's of the worlds I could do without though.
Yeah, the Middle East is a whole different ball game, denying folk basic human rights & oppression is still the order of the day in many places.
Iran is fascinating, beautiful country with some amazing things to see & enjoy but a horrendous regime in charge just itching to beat you with a truncheon for wearing the wrong clothes.
There's a great movie called Argo, about the US Embassy in Tehran being stormed by fundamentalists in 1979.

I don't think broadcast media is as full of older white blokes as it previously was, just off the top of my head there's Kirsty Wark, Beth Rigby, Victoria Derbyshire, Martha Kearney, Mishal Hussein, Shelagh Foggy & more, all accomplished, very prominent broadcasters.
"Through the lens" - an O'brien-ism, shame on you 😬
Watching Beth Rigby go for both leaders' throats on the Sky News programme last night, it occurred to me that it has become almost a tradition over the years to have women hosting these events. Likewise the political discussion shows.

I was expecting Starmer to have a slightly easier time than Sunak because Rigby so obviously hates Tories but poor Sir Keir had a dreadful time. A couple of times, when questioned about Corbyn and possible tax rises, he just froze. It was brutal. I wonder if LBC have her on their list of potential presenters. I'd listen!

Everyone except the UK plastics industry could do without Carol Vorderman as well....

Has he mentioned there being a stench in the studio following Farage's appearance this morning? Beery flatulence by any chance?
He might be a bit quieter about that now.

1. His constipation issue will have caused flatulence of the most unpleasant variety
2. His alcohol inspired tirade against Richard Tice may lead him to stop hinting at others having alcohol problems.

But he does have zero self-awareness so watch this space....

I'm no fan of Mr. Tice's politics, but he's apparently a throughly nice chap who is the opposite of confrontational. Can't same the same for his missus mind you. 😬 If James had a drunken tirade at Isabel Oakshott I would have been fully onboard!

What's Isabel O done? Isn't she liked in media circles? I noted Lois Perry recently made a disparaging remark about her cows lick fringe

Tice has always seemed perfectly pleasant, just not a good politician. Oakeshott has never seemed rude but for someone with so much media experience, it bugs me that she's so stilted when talking.

She discloses confidential sources, something a 'journalist' is never supposed to do. Firstly she did it in 2013 with Vicky Pryce. from Wiki:

In 2013, while at The Sunday Times, she persuaded Vicky Pryce to implicate Pryce's estranged husband, former Liberal Democrat MP and Cabinet minister Chris Huhne, in having committed the offence of perverting the course of justice, leading to the case R v Huhne, and to both Pryce and Huhne being convicted and imprisoned.

Then, more recently she leaked all of Matt Hancock's private What's App messages. You could argue as some do that it was in the public interest, I can see that. But for me the only reason she does these things is for money and notoriety, not for some public good. She's a nasty piece of work with no ethics. In my opinion. Plus she's got a monotone droney voice and a face like a slapped-arse ... an even bigger crime. 😬

She reminds me of Magda Goebbels.
