I thought the exact same. Annie takes her children out to do things that children love to do and doesn’t hide them. Lauryn, on the other hand hides them and when she does take them out, she takes them to alleyways or the local dumping site.

Either that or she’s just a stingy fuck who won’t spend any money on them and has found a way to spend the money on herself instead. Her kids look like bad scruffs because she doesn’t spend the money assigned to them on their clothes or an iron. She’s never dressed nice at all and has no fashion sense so now her poor kids are being subjected to her shit dress sense.
 
I don't even think she cares about privacy I think she is just a complete attention seeker who thinks it makes people pay more attention trying to catch a glimpse of her 2 little cash points. We see her and Kyle's ugly dials and that's enough for me. Nobody gives a shit what her irrelevant children look like, not even their father lmaooooo.
