do we know that she bought it and that she didn’t adopt it?
That’s my assumption considering the breed and the age of the cat, sounds like they saw it being advertised and a quick google shows they can be fairly expensive breed of catdo we know that she bought it and that she didn’t adopt it?
I had no idea that was a breed, lol. I am Russian and I have seen plenty of stray cats looking just like that. That’s my assumption considering the breed and the age of the cat, sounds like they saw it being advertised and a quick google shows they can be fairly expensive breed of cat
Also there are 'designer' or pedigree cats/dogs that are seeking new homes for one reason or another. Often slightly older but still just lovable. I HATE this culture of buying cute little baby animals rather than saving an existing life in a rescue shelter. Tbh i did expect more of katie.I had no idea that was a breed, lol. Well said. When she said they’d been waiting two months to get him, he’s obviously from a breeder. All those poor cats in cat shelters wanting homes, I really don’t get itAlso there are 'designer' or pedigree cats/dogs that are seeking new homes for one reason or another. To be fair, we looked into adopting a dog and we were not eligible. Husband had dogs growing up, I didn’t and several “specific bread” charities refused us adoption because I never had a dog. The fact that I volunteered in a dog shelter for three years didn’t help. Also there are 'designer' or pedigree cats/dogs that are seeking new homes for one reason or another. They are really strict - a friend was refused because they were renting a house and they didn’t own it. So it could be that Katie and G were not eligible. Although realistically she just wanted a cute baby pet for content.
I am afraid I disagree with you on the outdoor point. The shelter I volunteered at was mainly for dogs, but they had cats as well (you just couldn’t volunteer with the cats, only with dogs). Anyway, all the people in that shelter who worked with cats were absolutely adamant about letting cats out and they hated it. Apparently a lot of people don’t get their cats vaccinated from everything that they are supposed to be vaccinated for. Cats are more likely to get fleas and parasites. Then there are other dangers - other cats, dogs, foxes, people, cars - many poor cats were brought to the shelter after car accidents and pretty much all of them didn’t make it. There are increased risks of theft as well. And if you did adopt a cat from that shelter, in the contract there was a clause about not letting the cats out. And that is all without the environmental effect - cats kill birds, including rare species.I agree its not always straight forward with adopting dogs and it seems rules really vary depending on where you live. I've got friends who rent their house and only have a small garden. They got a rescue dog with no problems! And only one has been a previous dog owner. Its good that your comment highlights that we shouldn't necessarily assume that just because they didn't adopt, does mean they don't want to!
I do get the impression though, that cats are a bit easier to adopt as they are often a bit more independent and easier to care for ? It wouldn't surprise me if she just really wanted a specific breed for the 'gram'. From the sound of the breed, its going to always be on the smaller side?
Also no offence to anyone who has an indoor cat, but I think its soooo cruel to get a cat when you can't offer it any outdoor space I completely understand that some people have cats that don't like going out a lot and are mainly indoor, but at least that's their choice. I really think its in a cats nature to be able to explore and keeping them indoors all the time doesn't feel like it is being offered the best quality of life?
I didn't want to say but she does. Her skin seems dry and dehydrated and her hair looks fried and limp when not styled. Does she still class herself as a beauty blogger? She's got all that gifted make-up and skincare, why not use it up before it goes off? Wasteful should be her middle name. She’s looking so haggard recently

No, we decided not to have a dog for now and get one later. There were a hell of a lot of conditions - this is a mash of conditions from different charities - the dog could only be adopted by a couple(!) where one of the couple worked from home or part time (you couldn’t leave a dog alone for longer than 4 hours, so even if you popped back to the house at lunch, you were not eligible). So a single person couldn’t adopt, nor could a couple who worked full time. You had to have a house of a certain size with a garden of a certain size. No children under 12, no other pets. Both of you had to have dogs in the past. If you did apply, that didn’t mean you would get a dog, and waiting was quite long.I am really surprised and disappointed that the tattlers whi wanted to adop dogs weren't allowed to as they hadn't owned a dog previously. That makes no sense and encourages buying and puppy farms - what is going on with these places?
Adopting should be encouraged, with all animals (children too imo)
Hope you got a dog to love in the end!
It’s the same for a cat. My boyfriend and I are deciding to get a cat soon, and I’d love to adopt (grew up with adopted cats) but my mum had to jump through so many hoops to adopt, and I know we wouldn’t qualify. Now my mum is worried when her current two have passed she will be too old to be allowed to adopt more, which is heartbreaking as she is a wonderful cat owner. No, we decided not to have a dog for now and get one later. Now, we were keen to adopt, because of my background, but not now. I would be more keen to adopt dog back in Russia (I am Russian) and bring it over here, but with quarantine it’s not a viable option. We will have to buy if/when we decide to get a dog. And how many people wouldn’t even want to go through the process and would just go straight to buying, because it’s easier?
I stopped buying stuff that influencers were peddling a few months ago, went back to my tried and tested Garnier skincare; Aveeno and Dove lotions; Sanex deo and shower products and Body Shop haircare. And sticking to my old favourite make up brands, why fix what isn’t broken? Faffing too much with stuff that doesn’t matter!!The words “beauty influencer” has become oh so very loose and meaninglessness these days. So many “beauty influencers” have tit hair and tit skin the majority of the time and will only make an “effort” when there’s a product to promote and an advert to get paid for. It’s kinda sad.

That is just ridiculous. Cats don’t need walking, and keeping them is fairly easy - surely they would let an older person to adopt a cat?! Would be great for both cats and the person. Honestly, I understand the worry that these charities have about the animals under their care, but how they cannot are that they are just encouraging people into irresponsible buying, and so just making the problem worse? It’s the same for a cat. I agree! They wanted to make sure that someone was home most of the day to be with them (which my mum was as always WFH as a writer but still... they’re cats you can leave them alone for longer than dogs!) insisted we have a stable fence (which is pointless as cats can easily climb fences anyway) and so many more things I can’t even remember! I think the issue with age is that you’re more likely to die and leave the pet needing to be rehomed but animals are great companions for older people so it’s very sad to deny them it.That is just ridiculous. Not just old, my mum had something traumatic happen when she was little and can't/doesn't want to be on her own (dad works in healthcare so sometimes works long days) and having a dog has been a godsend. Now she has 2 and is very happy to always have the company. ☺but animals are great companions for older people so it’s very sad to deny them it.
