I caught a bit of one of last week's Chewin' episodes. GOB was in full-on cackling mode. Ingrid Tarrant was relating a long story of the logistical trouble she'd in Norway the last time she was on Chewin'. GOB's forced squealing laughter during the whole (not that funny) tale was painful, she can't let others just speak.

A new contributor, a "funny" writer whose name I can't recall, asked a question about hostess gifting, which was surely brought up so she could flex her "hilarious" material. The topic prompted very entitled responses from Ingrid and Bill Buckley, who both said they were sick of receiving so many orchids, or flowers, or so much wine, or chocolates that are a cliche. Their tones were so spoiled and ungrateful, how can you be given anything and not be pleased that the giver at least even thought of you? So they expect people to spend money on them AND come up with a novel and acceptable gift. No thought for any of their friends who might hear it. There was mention of plants and "pointsetters".
If they don't want the gifts, send them to me, I will make use of the wine!

Is it too early to think of new thread titles? I don't think so, it will give us time to get suggestions in and count votes. I think the theme of her dodgy driving is important to flag, and it will likely be an ongoing issue, same for her still whinging about her work making her tired, but no thought to curb her socialising and freebie grabbing.

Jo Good #11 Driving while filming, I'm a Park Lane pest. The BBC is hard work, but I won’t stay home to rest.

Or maybe something about her being lukewarm about poor Myrtle, lazy training etc. Anything else?

I quite fancy seeing the photographic exhibition but it’s at Auriens in Chelsea one of those retirement homes on behalf of a private members club. Culfords Club https://www.culfordsclub.com/upcomingevents/
Retirement home link

I thought it strange that GOB made a point that she wouldn't say exacty where the Carinthia West exhibition was. I now realise it's because the Auriens development is a direct competitior to the Riverstone place she did the promo video gig for. She knows how to shut her mouth to keep her sidehustle pay masters happy, doesn't she? Such a straight talkin' old hippy.

Then on last nights show Suzy did the King's Road on her walking tour segment, saying she was inspired by seeing Carinthia on MAM's vlog. So there's another promo for GOB's ads  Suzy did however give the name and address of the venue and said hurry along to see it as it ends on Sunday 23rd October.

@reggiesmum I am sure you could just go along to see the exhibition at Auriens. It's a commercial exhibition so the pictures are there to be sold, I'd just roll up and ask to see it, it's probably just in some big lobby reception area anyway. Don't be put off by mention of a private members' club, to me it seems that the "Culford Club" has been created as an adjunct to the retirement accomodation, a way to further monetise the development; might as well get some locals in as paid-up members then they can use the restatuants and bar etc, a smart way to keep the doors open to additional revenue.

Last night's show. While filling, due to a caller dropping out, GOB mentioned the BBC's 100 birthday, of course how it related to her, that she'd been an actress on the Beeb, with 22 years on the radio, with her ups and downs. Said if the caller hadn't come back on air she'd have gone in to a full monologue about that. It's really so strange that someone who seems to have so many issues and grievances with their work and their employer does nothing about it except complain. This really proves how coddled BBC folk are, if she was in the commercial world and dissed her employer contantly to clients or customers she wouldn't last a week.

A few weeks back I was listening to Ian Collins on Talk Radio during the day. He said he'd worked at various BBC stations and said that no one was ever allowed to tell anyone off, that they were constantly being asked if they were OK with things, all sorts of cushy stuff. Even MAM once said that when she first started broadcasting management would hold sessions with the presenters where they listened back to the shows and were given comments and pointers, but she said that was not done anymore.

GOB's ads on social media platfoms again being promoted on the BBC - klaxon!

BBC Sounds 1:40:20. Chewin' the Fat last night:

Jos Vantyler asks the question "What qualifies as genuine in media advertising?" GOB (disingenuosly) asks him why he asks this question and he replies that she is slightly involved, GOB gasps "oh God not influencers!!". He then goes on to say his mother bought some moisturiser that GOB was selling on Instagram, saying she bought it because she thinks "she's like me, I believed her, she is genuine". They then laughingly say that the mother probably thought she bought it from Jo herself. Jos went on to say he and his mother seldom find people selling stuff genuine but Jo Good is an exception.

GOB actually has the nerve to say that influencers have to be very careful! I wonder how this squares with the fact she does not disclose her vlogs in a way compliant with the ASA. She then allows the other CtF contributors to talk about her vlog and to go on saying she is wonderful with a genuine appeal.

I think she knew what Jos was going to say but with producer Mel not being in, she knew no one would shut down the discussion.

Reminded me of this quote (similar versions are available): “The secret of success is sincerity – if you can fake that, you’ve got it made" - George Burns

Remember the reflection of the ring light in her bathroom after she said there was no lights other than overhead. She was flogging a glowy skin product so needed the boost to her rather non glowy natural skin. If you were in any doubt of her integrity, that right there would allay your doubts.

Good idea. If I am down that way will give it a go. Thank you

I looked on Sheerluxe Insta to find GOBs appearance. I almost gave up, seeing so much product being pushed, posh girls, look what we wear to the office, different outfits every day, blah blah blah. No one needs 0.000001% of any of this stuff.

GOBs appearance is as host of a SheerLuxe "show" which is on their YouTube channel. It might as well be a shopping channel, I watched on 1.5x speed. She was holding cards with prepared questions so presumably the gig was to interview the guests using Sheeerluxe's Qs but she still managed to go off-script about herself, mentioning she studied yoga with Iyengar, went on a yoga retreat recently, she has a 97yo mother and other unnecesary details about herself. Interviewing a menopause doctor she got her facts wrong, saying that HRT causes joint pain, when it's a symptom of menopause that HRT might relieve.

In the lead up to this gig, GOB had been going on on her own vlogs about how excited she was to be interviewing " a Hollywood A-lister", she couldn't say who it was. Was it Jennifer Lawrence, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman? No, it was............Kelly Rutherford. The name meant nothing to me but I recognised her from Gossip Girl and Melrose Place which I used to watch with my sister in the 90s. Kelly seems like a perfectly nice woman, and is not make-up or product obsessed. GOB asked her how she feels at 53. What sort of question is that? Kelly replied that nothing is aching. FFS the woman is not 83.

The bib in bold below is from my post #794 - I called it back at the end of Sept!

The Sheerluxe thing, she might be doing it with someone called Kelly Rutherford. I have never heard of her but she was in Gossip Girl apparently. I am probably way off the mark. Whoever it is I hope she wore something that could be wiped down. GOB is going to be oh my goshing at her at high speed.

Oh yes! Sorry I forgot that post of your @HouseofTea You were not way off the mark! Shows how memorable the name is! I only watched Gossip Girl occasionally so it meant nothing to me then, but I knew the face when I saw her.

I don't know her as an actress at all, never watched any of the programmes MAM mentioned.

I am aware of her for the huge and drawn out custody battle she had with her ex. Her chat with Jo was deathly boring

I listened back to the end of Wednesday night's show, GOB did announce she'd not be in the following night, ie last night. She didn't say Carrie would be sitting in, I'm sure she'd have already been booked but Jo GOB rarely acknowledges her.

Forgot to mention that listening back to Wednesday night's show GOB read out an email - apparently sent in by a listener  - about her appearance with Sheerluxe. The company was named in the 'listener's' email and GOB went on to mention it again, and mentioned her interview with Kelly Rutherford.

I really can't think of another BBC presenter who would brazenly mention companies they do other paid work for.

Even if a genuine listener emailed in about it, the company name should have been redacted.
