This has nothing to do with cancer vloggers but I found this very distasteful. Why did this man have to say this? I highly doubt that Alex Trebek would want his private struggles made public.

"Longtime Jeopardy supervising producer Rocky Schmidt recalled Alex Trebek's sad last days on set.

Almost three years after the longtime Jeopardy! host lost his 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer, his former supervising producer offered a troubling glimpse of what was actually going on behind the scenes amid his struggles.

Schmidt revealed on the most recent episode of the "This is Jeopardy!" podcast that he once found his former boss in his dressing room, "on the floor, crying in pain."

Is it the childrens school holidays in the US? UK's summer school holidays for most parts are end of July to start of September, but do the US have the same period of time for school holidays?
I'm assuming it must be school holidays for Jenny & Kyles children to be with them in San Diego?
I do hope the children get to do 'fun things' too rather than just seeing Jenny in pain and resting/sleeping.

Their school year is August 10th first day and last day May 24th.

Ours started July 19 this year but we have a 2 week fall break, 2 week winter break and 2 week spring break. Plus the normal holidays and 3 days at Thanksgiving.

It was ridiculous to have kids in school in July when it was over 115 degrees every day.

yes it varies state to state. Some in my area go back last week of August and some not until after Labor day so about Sept. 5th or thereabouts. Ca. is early if they have an August 10th start date. I guess Ellis is about first or second grade.?
I think he's 7 so most likely second grade. Kyle said treatment overlapped with school start. I think Jenny’s last treatment is the 9th so that's cutting out close. Of course as a teacher Kyle would need to start earlier.

It really is shocking.

Gosh it’s a beast of a machine! No wonder it’s so expensive!

I think today will be session 6 for Jenny. Over the hump now! 4 to go. If it works and extends her life for another 6 to 9 months, it will be valuable extra time for them all.

honestly I am concerned, she will have to quit treatment because of the severe side effects just like it's happened before

I think Jenny has received fantastic care? What do you mean by America not caring for citizens in horrible situations?

I don’t mean medical care. I mean people who find themselves in a situation of being a lone parent. True that Jenny didn’t work. But when she’s not here, Kyle isn’t going to be able to take care of them and work at the same time is he? He’ll probably have to pay for childcare.

Also, what’s wrong with people buying holidays etc? The children will have memories of things they did with their mum. Death is irreversible.

Jenny is in no shape to be going on holidays and even before the proton therapy she indicated she had no interest in going to Hawaii or even out to dinner. Unless she gets a lot better quickly the only memories those kids are going to have in the next few months are how sad they felt every day being afraid their sick mom was going to die.

Yes, but that’s my point really, as I assume that people are referring to things that they bought before Jenny became this unwell? I haven’t watched all the videos though.

When Kyle said her sister Ashley had come to help and all the kids had come down I guess that means Ashley's kids are there?
---
Since she only has wake up and get there and lie down in the machine and then go back to the hotel and sleep hopefully she will make it another week.
How big is the hotel room? They have the kids there and possible Ashley's children.

The poor little gonks need a home, too. They couldn't just stay around the garden center or Tesco for the rest of their lives. What a hectic environment that was for them, with customers patting them on the head or squeezing them as they walked by! So, Tiffany did them a favor by adopting them, since she doesn't have pets or a child or even a goldfish to keep her company when darling is at work and Amma has escaped to her sister's house.
So, I agree with your sentence minus the gonks. Besides, she probably only used petit cash anyway for gonk purchases, which is just a drop in the gonk hat compared to really lavish purchases of hers.
And Tiffany loves those gonks a lot a lot a lot!

It's actually amazing to see just how well the correct pain relief and anti anxiety meds can be for a patient. I only wish that Jenny hadn't suffered for over a year with laying down and that they had accepted the correct amount of pain relief much sooner.
Jenny used to need sedating to be able to lay down for MRI's & CT scans due to the amount of discomfort laying down caused.
This is why I have always and will always feel that palliative care shouldn't be feared. Palliative care can make such a positive difference to patients and their families which watch them suffer.
I know Jenny says she is scared at the thought of involving 'palliative care', but maybe if the word 'palliative' was switched to 'supportive' care, Jenny maybe less afraid.
Being able to lay down without feeling pain must feel wonderful for Jenny, and it must be a huge sense of relief for Kyle to know that Jenny can do that without feeling pain. These small things are what can make big differences in quality of life.

I'm sure they got 2 rooms or maybe a suite. They are probably in an extended stay hotel since they have a kitchen. They are like little apartments.

Jenny used to say she didn't want to take any meds because she wanted to be okay to take care of her kids and that she just didn't like taking pills. I think she finally realized she can't take care of her kids when she is in pain either. She also probably associated taking pain meds with being very ill and she was kinda in denial about that so now maybe she has made peace with her prognosis and can accept the anxiety and pain meds.

It's because pallative is associated with dying.

It's not wrong for people to ask for money for cancer treatment or paying their bills when they can't work.
IMO it is wrong (and gross) to use that money you begged of your followers and cried on camera for, for trips, luxuries, cars, buying a second home, or gonks. They're exploiting a disease for money when they exclaim how much of a hardship they are dealing with and need the dollars then turn around and go on holiday for the hell of it.
And not sure how Kyle will be worse off financially, Jenny didn't work before she got cancer did she?
Jenny was a SAHM prior to cancer so they only lived on Kyles wage.
