It's a pretty simple way of laundering money. Put shitloads of donations into vouchers, claim they've been given out as part of your charitable work, use them to feed your household and your lizard without having to pay tax/NI/company tax, stash them in a box in the cupboard and use them/sell for cash at 10-20% off face value to get some nice, clean money that nobody official knows about.

Extra Brucie Bonus if you have a bit of a gambling or sniffy problem - you can pretend to the wife that you don't have any money at all and every penny that comes out of the business as pay (like duck all) can be handed to her, so she thinks you're being a good boy, but you're never more than a slightly skint single Mum away from another bullseye to go and stick in the matched betting terminals.
