There's a photograph of his wife's attemp at making a Lasagna that is worse than Jack's horse spunk effort.

Why do these grifters post every inconsequential thing they do or has happened to them? It's a boring running commentary about what tit cooks they are, what time they go to the toilet, how a coffee affects them, how they get to work, why they were excluded from school donkeys years ago....every little detail of their mundane existence.

Spoiler: My story of having my eyes opened to Twitter grifters.

I only joined Twitter at the start of lockdown. I thought it would be a good way to get instant updates on the pandemic, so I followed news outlets and journalists. That expanded into special interest groups and political activists.
In one of these groups was a couple, very Twitter-active in their particular cause. What pissed me off was how one of them tweeted every detail of her personal life - this isn't what I'm following you for. The epitome of this was her on a family holiday and tweeting from her hotel room, having a Twitter convo with the wife who was by the pool. "Oh, you're awake! Why don't you come down for a swim?" Like wtf is this?!?
Then she got into some legal jeopardy, and boom! the money started flying in. The Twitter following went from 7 or 8 thousand to 30k. Then she was asking for donations for sundries, lifestyle choices, an income... what?
Somebody then took exception and laid out all her bullshit, all the lies and inconsistencies, and explained that the whole thing including making strangers feel invested in your personal life, is straight from the narc grifter playbook.

Light bulb (solar). This is what Jack Monroe does, I thought. But her audience is ten times bigger.
And here I am.

There is so much grifting. From the crowdfunding to the seemingly innocuous 'asking for recommendations' posts which essentially means 'give me free stuff'. Some of these people do it so low level it's barely detectible but once you see it, it's bloody everywhere!

Unfortunately, we are living in an era of the charlatan and grifter, mainly thanks to a largely unregulated social media and a comatose mainstream media. However, I am optimistic that like all things, it shall pass eventually and people will wake up and start to ask questions.

Tattle remains a shining beacon of receipts and critical thinking amongst a sea of con artists.

A couple of times each year I get commissioned for a piece for a cycling magazine and the photoshoot inevitably comes with a box of free gear from some clothing manufacturers marketing budget. I hate the idea of being a billboard so, as soon as my contractual obligations are fulfilled, it gets given away to the first cyclists I meet. I'd be a crap grifter.

totally with you on this. i was looking for a tiler last year for very expensive kitchen tiles. i found a guy on TrustATrader or whatever it's called. he said he had an excellent eye for detail, sent photos of his work and a price i was happy with and was on the cusp of booking him and he spelled my name wrong in a follow-up message so i bailed. that isn't eye for detail.

Much the same as this guy asking for money for an idea he came up with 3 days ago and can't even spell a basic word yet expects people to fund this for him? so bleeping rude.

Jack claimed to be paying Caroline out of her own pocket, and that she’d purchased her a laptop and/or tablet (assuming previously she’d used a moleskine and a BIC 4 colour pen, WFK)

This prompted a great big PayPal tip jar rattle, for reasons. Everyone knows an austerity cook (lols) who publishes recipes (double lols) on her blog and SM needs a PA in the middle of a national lockdown.

Or two? Jack seemed to allude at one point IIRC there were two Carolines working diligently, full wages paid, shiny new laptop in hand.

But Caz MkII was never heard of again so likely never existed and was invented to double the nonexistent burden on our saviour of the poors and therefore increase the TYFATYD cashos into her PayPal. Much grift.

However, the HMRC site shows Jack claimed furlough for two people. So at best (??) that would be herself and Caroline. Making her ‘paid out of pocket’ claims a big fibby fib.

She further claims that Caroline, owner of hands, LEFT on the very day furlough ended. Does this make sense? Wouldn’t furlough ending indicate ‘back to work’ for Guest and she’d be able to pay Caroline as presumably she had done prior to Covid?

Did Caroline work for her pre Covid? (Is there evidence?) If not, why would you take on a PA at the quietest time work wise then complain you’d have to pay her out of pocket?

Now… bear with me here… but did Caroline actually exist? Don’t we only have Jack’s Twitter feed and a few posts on Patreon (and a new joiner here desperate to prove they were she).

As for the two people on the claim.. it could be ANYONE. Family members for example. It’s amazing how many employees some businesses suddenly had when money was on offer!

Then, with no evidence of a penny paid back, the company is dissolved.

It’s all very Netflix investigation but.. what if?

According to the furlough rules to qualify you had to be on the payroll prior to the pandemic.

There was also a £1,000 bonus for the employer for each furloughed member of staff that returned to work. Interesting that she didn't return to work, perhaps because of the general chaos at the Bootstrap Bugamansion Home Office.
