So, which company is going to set fire to their brand next? Or will teaming up with a notorious internet beggarwoman and grifter not appeal to anyone else?

Regardless of the grifting (which I think is disgraceful) her recipes are relentlessly tit and miserable. There are so many more better people out there whose recipes work or at the bare minimum been proof-read and had someone who knows even the first thing about cooking cast an eye over them...

Perhaps we can look forward to a brand partnership with Immodium, Squatty Potty or a manufacturer of sick bags.

Green squigged squig should not be taken seriously.

Let's see if Currys try to clean up this mess tomorrow. They can either say nothing and the ridicule will continue, or distance themselves from the dodgy maths...and the ridicule will continue.

If my theory that the dodgy maths is Currys own is correct (it would make no sense to ask Jack for the price saving on cooking, unlike ingredients) I suspect will see a dirty update tomorrow with no acknowledgment the figure was ever wrong.

Oh god, she's going to be this year's John Lewis ad, isn't she? 😂 A crumbly little Jack is seen slowly making her way down the high street, walking stick in one hand, battered shopping trolley in the other. Tears fill her eyes are she reminisces of years gone by. A vape shop now were Woolworths once was, her favourite Turkish barbers replaced the haberdashery. She can't afford this year's traditional Christmas dinner of eels and mash but fear not, Big D & E have ordered her a home delivery from John Lewis and everyone was happy. THE END 😡
Would that be a home 🏠 delivery? Ah no, I forgot; although John Lewis is venturing into social housing, it's only the rental variety, so that wouldn't be a suitable Christmas happy ending for someone who thinks renting is beneath her.

Yes, but surely they would be using guest's timing for each meal. That's what the price saving is supposed to be based on:

"The nation wants to speed up their cooking in an attempt to help lower their energy bills. Currys is on hand to help and are launching their first set of recipes that could save consumers up to £78 a month in energy bills due to the products used, created in partnership with food writer, Jack Monroe.

60% of Brits reveal they want to cook a meal in less than 45 minutes to reduce energy usage and cut down bill costs. Currys’ nine new recipes cut down on both preparation and cooking time, resulting in up to 8 hours saved a week, totalling to 32 hours a month!"

It's on her. (And Currys not paying attention)

Thread title by @Clarends, nominated by @Lazarus. You each win a printed-out copy of guest's slow cooker recipes stapled together. You don't get the actual slow cooker because she's donated it to a food bank :(

Recap: While we all thought guest was sitting on her Mediterranean, she was actually softly, gently, working behind the scenes with Currys to end the cost of living crisis by showing people how to make food in a slow cooker or air fryer. Retail Times (trade publication) promised this would save us all thousands, but that strangely wasn't mentioned on Currys' website that features guest's recipes. That, however, is their only mention of guest as they haven't promoted the brand deal on their otherwise active social media. Neither has she, cuz she's still hiding but continues dirty deleting her tweets. However she didn't think to remove the one from earlier this year that said she gave away two gifted air fryers because they're not accessible to The Poors so she doesn't use them for her recipes. Which might be just as well, because the recipes she shared for Currys contain very little in the way of flavour or adequate nutrition for an adult. The air fryer, and the chicken, are too embarrassed to be seen with her so they had to be Photoshopped in.

Squigs have been getting a little irate at the lack of due diligence and flaming Currys/Retail Times, but that's OK, we've saved the announcement before they pull it :)

Mer(espace)ci! Curry on mitherin! Wiki up on the pink button as always.

My first thread title. Very excited. Disappointed not to get a real slow cooker but I will photoshop one onto my sideboard and tea will be ready in no time.

I wonder... have any consumer journalists ever tried to verify Jack's dodgy maths? Cos they may be interested in Curry's pushing such obvious falsehoods on potential buyers.
Do you mean someone like…Martinmate? 🤣🤣🤣

On another note, remember when she had “TV presenter” in her bio?

Wonder if she used the same Jack maffs as when she tried to calculate the cost of running her fridge? (Screenshot courtesy of Yel)

And if the maths don't add up she advises you to cancel your direct debit and send the electricity company what you think you should owe. There will be no negative repercussions from this that she cares to mention.

Re the photos in the previous thread of the storage shelves in the bungakitchen....tea and spices both have limited shelf lives. Not as in they become poisonous or anything like that, but the longer they sit on the shelf, the more they lose their flavour. For someone who uses 1/8 tsp of spice in a single recipe - with the amount of spice bottles on those shelves, most of it would be flavourless dust by the time she got around to using it (*if* she ever got around to using it).

I was thinking more along the lines of newspaper consumer columnists. They all have one and there's a few good freelancers out there too. I wonder if any of them have ever covered these spurious budget cooking claims?

Yes! This is the wild calculation that I mentioned in the last thread 😂. And swapping to a 130v fridge 😂. Like she'd really done something marvellous and the rest of the nation are a bunch of sad sack losers with our 240v appliances 😂.
