They did crisis comms for Subway during the "is it tuna?" scandal. https://www.mslgroup.co.uk/our-work/subway

Amused that now MSL will have to deploy their crisis comms specialists for… a comms crisis that they’ve created. I bet their work’s WhatsApp has been going crazy since last night and I guarantee that they’ll have already had a Zoom call today in hoodies and leggings to try and sort this tit out.

Also bear in mind that they have been/will be here, as the Tattle commentary on the chaos has been shared on the hellsite by dead spice squig. If only they’d looked here before thinking that “Munroe” would be the perfect fit for this brief, eh?

Hi MSL, how’s your weekend going my lovelies? 👋🏻

a clusterfuck of incompetence

Twitter update for this:

"Retailer Currys has employed activist cook Jack Monroe to promote energy saving recipes using its appliances. They absurdly claim cooking her chilli con carne will save £77.60 per month. This comes after her latest book was banned from food banks for containing 'dangerous advice'"

None of this is good for guest.

Poor Adrian...
What’s the betting that this will be used in the evaluation? “Within minutes of the press release being issued, the small appliance campaign went viral. In less than 24 hours, it had a reach of 60k on Twitter alone, and was the hot topic of conversation on various online forums…

“Here’s a sample of what the target audience, ABC1s aged 30-55, had to say:

On a serious note, beware of brand new members appearing and attempting to steer the thread towards positive. It happens on the mummy site all the time.

I don't think she's ever used a pressure cooker - the cooking time/method are all kind of wrong.
No mention on how long to come to pressure, how long to let the pressure release (naturally vs releasing the valve), liquid quantities etc.
My feeling is that she's read the specifications of the bit of kit, 'adjusted' one of her abominations and voilà - job done.
I know, I am.just picking at details. That Curry gave her the gig is truly unbelievable.
Oh, and I am no expert, but I have an InstantPot that gets used regularly (and two air fryers 😁).
A pressure cooker is great for cooking a lot of cheaper cuts of meat quickly rather than using an oven for hours.
My Gran and Mother both used one to cut costs. Apart from my Mum once misplacing the weights there was never any drama or fear attached to using one.
If you're going to present yourself as competent, you should at the very least read the instructions first.
They've given her some homework to do and you just know that she hasn't bothered her arse to do it.

Not only has she never used one, she thinks they are a fire risk

Pressure cookers are brilliant for cooking dried beans and other pulses. Chetna Makan features one regularly in her YouTube videos for dishes like daal. You'd think that a budget cook would know that a pressure cooker, while more expensive to buy than a regular pot, is a valuable tool for anyone with limited time and limited resources. And, once purchased, they last forever.

I was beginning to feel quite sorry for MSL. But then I looked at the utter bollocks on their website, and I’m now OK again.

This omnishambles is entirely down to Jack, for her appalling incompetence and willingness to accept any corporate job, regardless of any professed liberal and left wing principles; MSL, for dreaming up and ineptly delivering this campaign, including totally spurious stats and figures and swallowing Jack’s pov influencer fake persona; and Currys for not doing any homework and signing this crap off.

I’m sorry, I’m jumping straight in having grunked for ages now and I miss you all, you’re my hilarious contingent. Also I’m bloody bored because biggest SB is off with Covid so I’ve had time to laugh and study anything but my mate’s pa’s MRSA. Thanks guest for your peach and tit Curry(‘s).

Is her nose falling off or running in that candid green belt photo?

Holy tit! WFT is going on here?! Well (not a sort of hole) I mean we all know what’s going on ❄☃❄but 😲

🎵Back once again with the eel behaviour... 🎵
And some people say there's no such thing as coincidences!

Top trending article on BBC Food website today.

On a linked page, there are 40+ recipes using an air fryer. None by former darling of the povs, Jack Munroe.

In January we were told we shouldn't assume that people could afford a tin opener. Which are widely available for £1 or less. In October, we need not only an air fryer but one with a steam function and a separate electric pressure cooker.

I know people genuinely get given presents, second hand things but it's really quite a leap.

I'd have more respect if she had she'd reworked recipes as they were popular / frugal etc. But no, just change them a bit and publish.

Can someone work bung it in Curry's and pumbelows into a thread title? Please?

Quoting myself to add that BBC Food also has this undated article on their site. Very useful info, including this paragraph:

But aren’t pressure cookers, well, a bit scary?
“The first time you use them they are quite scary because they make noises and they clunk and there’s a big fountain of steam coming out of the top, and I think the main reason people worry is they think they’re gonna blow up”, says Pippa, before adding, “but all the pressure cookers these days have mechanisms so they couldn’t physically blow up. All that would happen is the nozzle would come away, creating a big hole for all the steam to escape, and the pot would depressurise on its own.” The new wave of electric pressure cookers make a lot less noise (they are eerily quiet) and sound less like they will go off at any moment.
