Morning all 😊
Not wanting to derail the thread onto Patreon again, but after yesterday’s discussion re Patreon.... Interesting post by Iain Lee on Twitter re Patreon. He is someone who uses Patreon well, offers content, clearly cares about his subscribers and I love that he offers refunds if people aren’t happy. He suspended payments too when he first set his account up as he thought he might not need his new venture as another opportunity was on the cards.
Jack’s lack of connection with her Patreon is appalling can’t even be bothered to add updates but happy to put it on her final Twitter post!😡

See, now that makes sense to me. If people are actually putting content out there that is entertaining or useful then I can understand it.

I was at the hairdressers yesterday so I missed everything. Pleased to say I've finally had a cut so no longer tempted to shave a la Ms Monroe.

Missed the drama sad times!

Are we running bets on how long the flounce will last? I want til Tuesday evening- I predict a twitter meltdown in the early hours.

And also, picking up on a couple of other things from the last eleventy years couple of threads:

The house owning by 30 thing — possibly a MC expectation generally, but don’t you think that the pressure in this case is heightened by growing up in a centrist right household (spot on analysis once again by @heretoreaditall2019 - Tattle’s own Turing <insert gif of floating equations etc>), who are all 2nd generation property empire overlords? (Grandad, Dad —where’s JM’s contribution?).

It probably makes her whining about renting easier to understand

Although when Jack phoned her dad to tell him she was transitioning, he said (my summary) As long as you're not a Tory.

As an aside, did her dad write to her school to say he would be grateful if they announced that Jack's first book was coming out, and he was proud that his daughter was a published author?

And another thing— “Bootstrap”

I agree with all the previous considerations of this phrase. I do think she actually meant “shoestring” because that’s what makes actual sense in this situation.

However, there are many other “shoestring” cooks out there. For instance this, which I can highly recommend, Cook on a Shoestring by Sophie Wright, who I think is/was a broke food stylist/chef at the time — must go and look her up.

Now, this was published originally in 2012, which I think predates the whole Girl called Jack stuff, so prior use of similar desired phrase may have prevented HelloJackie going with this.

Amazon product

Anyway, I can highly, highly recommend, I still make the black bean chilli regularly, will type up on the other thread if anyone wants, but definitely worth splashing £3.27 on 🤣

I’m interested in seeing the black bean chilli.

Well, that’s according to Jack, though 🤔

Don’t wish to derail with speculation on parents, but a military family, unionist mother (surmising from marriage of Belfast girl to British soldier), repeated use of full honours after name — these tend to be right leaning, especially all together. Not that there’s anything wrong with any of them, and I’m making sweeping generalisations 😁

Anyway, may have been another thing to rebel against her family....

Am I the only one who thinks she hasn’t had lip fillers? 🤪 I’ve looked at pics of her from 2013 and when she is slim her lips look the same, but when she’s carrying a bit more weight on her face a la orange hair phase (and has foundation around the lipline) they obviously look smaller. I think she’s just been making them slightly bigger on apps. They look too flat to have filler in them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyway, off to scope a food & drink thread or something 👀

I'm not sure about the lip filler, the problem is she edits her photos so much it's hard to tell.

If she has had them I definitely do not think it was during Ouchy Mouthy gate. That would be the actions of someone very twisted, besides I'm not sure the procedure was allowed then during lockdown.

I don't think she has had fillers either. I can't see a marked difference between her lips now and in the past and I may or may not have wasted more time than was strictly necessary scrutinising pictures of her (sad little) face

Yeah, to clarify, if she *has* had fillers, I don't think it was during lockdown - I looked at her insta a while ago and put the change (as I perceive it) down to around the start of 2019.
Re. her family's politics - she said on a podcast or something (I think it was the James O'Brien one) that her brother was very right wing. I took that to mean he is fairly Tory. Still assume her dad votes Labour however it is possible to be fairly right-leaning and vote labour!
While we're on the topic of her family and what they think of Jack, I was pondering last night how it might have been actively damaging to her parents' foster care credentials when Jack came out to the press about how much she ~struggled~ when she made her first splash in the press. I mean, it's not exactly a great advert for them if they have to have regular contact with social services wrt the kids in their care.

Re the lips.....I originally didn't think so and it could of course be an ongoing problem with her mouth or editing....who knows the narrative changes so often...pure speculation picked up here....no need for libel threats honest....but there were a few photos where the top part of her mouth (not just lip) looks enlarged but with the new heavily edited photos or even weight loss/sucked in cheeks her face does appear different anyway.....perhaps there's also an element of having my eyes opened so much here anything seems possible.....I do actually feel sad about the fact she looks so haunted and I really hope she does get sorted and stays off SM.....when we do finally see "Return of the Jack...." I hope it's actually a good few weeks down the line....I think she started out well but just strayed so far from her original path that even she doesn't know who she is anymore or where she fits.

On the eye thing - I think what happens on TV is that she isn't happy/comfortable there and it shows. And when she speaks and it's in this very monotone voice, and then when she's asked to do something and says something like 'well we'll see this goes', it comes across so negative and like she's really peeved about having to do it.

I feel like when I watch Jack cook on TV I realise how stressful it must be to cook on TV. But it's her job, while cooking on TV, to make it look like it's nit stressful. I don't think 'yeah it must be really hard to cook live' when Ainsley Harriot is doing it.

While Jack is quiet, some other observations. I don't think Jack knows who her audience is. Her tin can cook/cooking on a bootstrap, origin story stuff means that her most obvious audience is low-income families. But who expects 'come to bed' recipes in a family cookbook that the adults are supposed to be using to feed their kids? If she wants to do more things like that, she'd be better bringing out a student cookbook.

I also think that Good Food for Bad Days is also not a good idea. It's a nice thought, but in practice, we all know that when you're at your lowest, you generally just can't. Like, if you are so bad anxiety/depression wise that you can't get out of bed, you're not going to be cooking. And Jack herself illustrates that with her 'I haven't cooked properly in ages.'

Going back a little here but @ShowMeYourFeline was asking about the thousand yard stare phenomenon. I think pictures can explain this better than words so here you go (it's nothing awful, but it is very poignant):

On another note, I've also been diagnosed with ASD but can recognise the phenomenon. Apologies for going slightly o/t there, I find it really interesting.

I don't think she has had fillers either. The pictures have just been 'improved' by facetune or whatever she uses.

Hmm, you could be right! It's possible the weight loss had just made her lips look more prominent, and of course the face tuning. I think she has but then again it's not a hill I'm prepared to die on.
