I dont do TikTok really, but my sister sent me some links earlier to actual families actually thriving on £25 a week in Aldi and not a list or Blu-tac’d bunch o bananas in sight

eta happy upbeat and engaging cOnTeNt too bore off Monroe times up

There's some good videos on Instagram too - £20/25 for 5 meals for 4 people - they all look tasty and varied.

So it's not a £20 shop for the week then, is it?! If someone else did that she'd attempt to tear them apart.

Some people genuinely do have empty fridges/freezers/cupboards though, Jack. They don't have the luxury of topping up the £20 with hoarded food, and those using food banks can have little choice in what they do receive. Her recipes help so few, her ideas are just plain stupid.

This meal planning lark is just offensive (as per). She is a LITERAL expert on nothing.

I know I'm behind the times here, but my finding Jack/Tattle story:
I grew up WC, but have been both poor and wealthy during my adult years, I originally thought Jack was a kindred spirit as we had lots of similarities.
I first knew of her when I was in leaner times and would frequent the forums of another "money saving" website. During 2010-2012 I used their cheap recipe plan devised by another forum user, the recipes were costed to the penny and used very cheap ingredients - Meals like "chickepea curry" "kidney bean burgers" etc (sound familiar?!). A few years later, Jack's name came up as her blog was another one to follow for frugal recipes, there was talk that some of the recipes seemed quite familiar to those on "our" website, but she seemed to be popular amongst the forum on the whole.
I followed her on twitter a while later, but found she was the only person I would unfollow then re-follow regularly as she would annoy me, but yet we had lots of mutuals and I would think "she can't be that bad". *rolls eyes*

I came to Tattle a few times, I googled after the fallout of the MoD dramas that I heard about on MN, found a thread on another influencer who was so insufferable and prim that I just couldn't bear them. Then rediscovered after googling another of the "money saving" forums alumni, Emma Drew. I then realised that I wasn't the only one to dislike JM and her faux poverty story.

Right from the first time I saw her blog, I had doubts about her background and thought that her meal ideas weren't new ones, however Jack did get them out to those that needed them most, so I let it go at the time. I wish I had been more vocal about my doubts back then.

I found it interesting that someone involved with said forum called out the previous owner of the forum for promoting the smol pixie recently and recommended the website of the cheap meal plan I mentioned above 🍿

Claim to fame - one of my (pre-tattle I hasten to add) anti-Jack rants made me into a screenshotted squig once.

Hello!

So I actually am on holiday, however I follow all kinds of local Facebook groups and on Sunday a young woman posted. She’s eight months pregnant, with NO FOOD whatsoever in her home and no money, it’s Easter Sunday with all stores closed and she has absolutely nothing to eat.

Jack, as you can see, this young woman didn’t have some bananas or cereal or chicken breasts or expensive fish in her cupboards she had NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH, and couldn’t get any council help until the weekend is over. These are the types of people that need budgeting help Jack, not middle classes wanting to save a few quid. This person will need to learn how to make her weekly shop stretch and here’s you tweeting about 2p rice, it’s not 2p if you don’t have any in you performative twit.

I know you’ll read this, so how about you stop dicking around writing your name in bubble writing to feel important and actually THINK about your target demographic. It’s not who you’re catering to right now with this performative bollocks.

And in a kind of happy ending, with over 200 comments, the young girl was fed and has cupboards full of food now. But it shouldn’t be down to strangers to help out, and imagine the embarrassment she must have felt telling thousands of people she’s hungry. Jack doesn’t know how good she’s got it.

Thank you @OwlRightsReserved for triangulating the actual smart price rice, which was less than a third of the price of Asda own brand at 45p for the kg so we get 3 times the rice fraus 🎉

This is a toddler snack bowl for size reference:

That babybel weighs 28g so this is what a teeny tiny portion of rice we’re talking about, however it has been upgraded to the second smallest slot on the plate so in fairness would suffice for a toddler’s portion?

She could actually like, get an actual job, and do stuff to raise awareness and make a difference. Dicking about all day on Twitter isn’t a job.
Can you imagine her CV
made a show of myself on DKL not invited to SKL
upset the viggles, by promoting low welfare meat, and thus upset my employer
failed to promote my fruit collab and upset my employer
was employed to promote a cooking competition had one entrant
dicked about all day on twitter

@secretsu I was a massive fan of Weezl’s work, she sincerely worked so diligently to produce a nutritionally sound meal plan for people on a tight budget….. and then along came Jack.

Glad I'm not the only one. I remember her going through the nutritional contents of every recipe with such attention to detail. Jack could only dream of being a Weezl ❤

Everyone else has such respectable origin stories. Mine is just that I'm a massive witch who's been lurking on gossip forums for years looking for good trainwrecks to follow. I saw the Jack threads were starting to really kick off around the time of the Edinburgh jaunt, hooted and fizzed at the hilarity and wit of the canal, signed up to be able to see the receipts and here I am with my stupid bot nearly 2 years later.

Incidentally I was trying to think of anything at all I've done that takes four hours and the only thing I could think of is making a Pet Slop Bots song. That means we should consider ourselves very fortunate that we didn't get treated to any kind of warbling, caterwauling or quavering in OH's parents' big bathroom.
