Can't believe I missed jack admitting to not paying tax!
Im so far behind on threads now I wouldn't know where to start with a catch up. We're probably way past admission of tax avoidance now but if anyone can point me to the receipt I'd be a grateful recipient!
Don't think I can afford such a big grunk but my fomo is getting the better of me 😭

Why is he/ she/they/ Harold an OH if they haven't been dating for long??
Hmmm???

Sorry for multiple posts I'm on an awful and disorganised grunkathon...but is she criticising people for calling it 'cooking bacon'?
She is literally the only person I've ever heard in my life refer to bacon as 'cooking bacon'.
Knooooooooobbbbb

I genuinely think that the squigs don't know what OH means. Which is hilarious as she is desperate for someone to pick up on it! She thinks she's being clever and cryptic having found a gender neutral term but no one is biting.

That exchange about marriage with that squig has had me 🦉 🍾 what a nob!!

I don’t think Jack understands the tax question re Rishi’s wife. Jack seems to think Rishi’s wife pays no UK tax (so isn’t paying for UK public services) but that’s not the case. She’s paid UK tax on her UK income (which I imagine is fairly substantial - certainly she’ll have paid much more tax than Jack), but not on her non-UK income (mainly, from her Indian investments) due to her non-dom status. Actually that’s not illegal and is pretty common for people with non-UK citizenship based in the UK who have non-UK income. (I know a couple of non-doms myself through work). Of course, whether it’s a good look for the wife of the Chancellor is another question - but still, not illegal (assuming all the non-dom boxes are ticked).

I’ll tell you what IS illegal, though. Not submitting your company accounts on time. It’s a criminal offence. So Jack is in fact breaking the law. And has been for some time. Not that people are usually hauled off to court for this, but still - it needs to be treated seriously.

So if mrs rishi mate is now paying U.K. tax on non U.K. earnings, won’t India be pissed off?
I don’t know what the position is there, but I imagine she’d have to pay both (Indian and UK). She’s an Indian citizen but not Indian resident so I don’t know how that works re Indian tax. (She doesn’t have UK citizenship because India doesn’t recognise dual citizenship apparently).

I haven’t read the double tax treaty between UK and India - but there probably is one. So if the income is taxed in India as it arises there it will be taken into account and deducted from her UK tax bill - just depends on the rates paid in each country, and what it is, dividends etc. As always, the papers simplify it so much - international tax for high net worth individuals is really complicated, especially when people are guessing.

Finally found something I do believe Jack suffers from!

The Barnum effect, also called the Forer effect or, less commonly, the Barnum–Forer effect, is a common psychological phenomenon whereby individuals give high accuracy ratings to descriptions of their personality that supposedly are tailored specifically to them, yet which are in fact vague and general enough to apply to a wide range of people.

So astrology then?

Honestly, @Froggies I have a proper fear of being in debt/owing money. I'm a spender and if I didn't put tax away as soon as my monies came in I would be living in a constant state of panic.

We also had to work really hard to get where we are and I'm not about to duck that up.

If Jack had a decent accountant and had a solid three years of business accounts showing growth, she could absolutely have got a mortgage by now. She is paid extremely well for what she does.
Jack must live in constant fear, and I think she mistakes those feelings for conditions she has probably diagnosed herself. Constant worrying about envelopes and phone calls isn’t ADHD in this case, it’s a side-effect of refusing to play by the rules, which she is if she has £30k savings and chooses not to pay her tax.

🔺 but I had a lot of debts and that was one of the things I sorted out after I stopped drinking. The phone calls, the letters, a Sheriff’s Officer even turned up at my work to speak to me about a debt. I got in touch with a debt management company, paid them what they told me too and the feeling or pride and relief when the last payment came off was massive. Now I sensibly use credit because I never want to be in that position again.

I get my wages, I don’t even look at my payslip because it’s depressing the amount of tax paid but I’m glad I don’t have to get involved in it tbh. Brian Beauterfield, your plan sounds like a great idea - better to put too much aside than find yourself in a worrying situation at this time of year.

Also - Jack knows we have a crack team here of Silvery L and Marm capturing Tweets and we know she reads here…so why still the dirty deletes 🤔. Why bite and answer that one Tweet when she purposely courting numbers and then delete it again?

Squig uprising! And last time I looked, when it was about 35, there were a couple of blue tickers liking it.
As has been said before Essex Girl thought her taxes would be her downfall.
I can't feel sorry for her. She has milked poverty for years and hasn't given anything back.
My favourite thing about TD is her that her Tweets never cross a line. She says what needs to be said without snark or digs and that must wind Jack up no end! We salute you TD!

I think sometimes she just can't help herself but fire out tweets, before thinking. Then she thinks better of it and deletes. She doesn't seem to have a great deal of restraint where Twitter is concerned.

Talking of her social media use, she really neglects her other platforms now. Hasn't posted anything to Facebook for over a year and IG rarely gets any updates. It's all about Twitter for her and extracting maximum dopamine.

I think Twitter is a more productive platform for her begging. Because the way Jack uses the tip jar/patreon/buy me a coffee are begging bowls. She is a master at it.

There are many people that use these donation income schemes as they were intended, so I am not calling out the system. Jack provides nothing in return, so she is no different to a street beggar.

ETA I think Jack has seen this income as gifts, so not taxable. Unfortunately for her, it is very much taxable.

Last night was wondering why I felt sorry for her and concluded that I just feel sorry for anyone that gets into tit with money as it’s so stressful. And then…

Started personal fridge freezer research on the John Lewis app and the distribution of prices do not reflect favourably upon Jackie’s decision/lifestyle. Like Smeg don’t even wanna talk to you for less than £1.7k for their most basic colourful single unit, whereas even premium brands like Samsung have an offering at ~£500, even their double door American fridge is cheaper than a Smeg entry level product. And Jacqui has the £3/4k American double door Smeg fridge…

Like this isn’t accidental overspending bleeping her tax up, which is to be empathised with, she must be totally delusional as to how much she earns and the lifestyle she can have. That much on a fridge when it’s 10 x an entry level product (and not even true entry level, this is still within the John Lewis app!) is just insane. No doubt there’s a Twitter and spending addiction there but the ego behind it 🤯
