Jack is ridiculous in all her 'poverty' Christmases. She lies about her economic situation and over spends on tat, whilst proclaiming cheap food to her followers. I prefer Martin Lewis' advice of 'just don't'. If you can't afford it, don't put yourself in financial hardship. None of the modern gubbins really matter, it just matters to have loved ones and a roof over your head. To just be grateful for what you have.

Jack, however, will advise spending every last penny you possess, to go overboard on menus with extra ingredients that aren't necessary and only add more the bill. You could instead buy one thing a month and freeze it. Any left over roast potatoes? Save them, freeze them. (Yes Jack, roast potatoes, so maverick for xmas dinner). She is the most wasteful person I've ever known, she has no sense of self awareness and only promotes people to overspend at Christmas.

Don't have Turkey or anything fancy, buy a large chicken and do lots of veg as they're cheap. Start buying stuff now that will keep.

Cook as much of it yourself, make your own pigs in blankets etc as it's much cheaper (not with cooking bacon but with normal streaky, and sausages.

Do you need a starter?

Make a nice pudding, always cheaper than buying, and have what your family likes. We like sticky toffee pudding which is dead easy, or I may make a cheesecake this year. Shop at the discounters.

Do not serve anyone veg peelings, that is just cruel.
 
Ooh TV show idea (don’t steal my pitch, tv bosses!)
Some expert from somewhere comes into the house and works out how much money you have spent on stuff and how many items you own. Then they monitor what you buy over a month.
Then they make you spend normal amounts on food and stop buying old tat you don’t need.
It’s called Zero Waste
