She's just posted this photo of cauliflower cheese from her book. Not sure what else is in it, looks very watery on that spoon 🧐

She is sort of giving away that she’s used to a big fancy kitchen, whereas plenty of people (poor or otherwise) have to make do with tiny kitchens. Careful, Jack, you’re straying a bit off-message there. Though I expect the blue ticks with their big fancy kitchens will buy it.

We can only fit one person at a time in our kitchen, have to walk out to let someone get through or practically sit on the worktops to squeeze by

Cf with the fancy olive oil and blender. I thought on DK she didn’t have some gadget or other as wanted it to be accessible - gone back on that? I think she risks losing her USP in the name of a TV career.

I can't do the screengrab, but wtf is on top of that cauliflower cheese on her Twitter right now?!!!!
duck knows, she's doing exactly what she's claimed to not do thousands of times. All this endless droning on about putting out recipes for free on her site (which everyone does), but no recipe link for this just a book plug.

Ever the unprincipled liar.

However there is a massive gap between “not perfect” and the shitshow we saw this morning. She is plugging a cookbook called “Good food for bad days”, but no one who is having a bad day would be tempted to cook that recipe, not least because she made it look HIGHLY STRESSFUL. Can she not see the irony?
It is also stressful to watch someone who is clearly out of their depth. Cooking is supposed to be pleasurable. That’s why people like to watch easy, relaxed cooks like That Man. Jack should be able to cook her own recipes, it is her living after all. So why does she find it so difficult?
However you look at it, that slot was a DISASTER. She turned her back on the audience, didn’t explain her steps or describe the dish, left Ruth to fill in all the silences, didn’t show us the dish, the pasta wasn’t even half cooked (it was still stiff!), the chicken we were promised had apparently scarpered, and she made a piss-poor grating joke that was greeted with silence.
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.
The only saving grace was Eamon’s face. 😂

Not sure if anyone posted this grab yet but it’s worth a repeat posting

Eeuww it looks like cauliflower in thin gravy. Have things been rinsed? This depressy pipe would not do it for me I'm afraid.

And hang on - when was a proper cauliflower cheese not a 'legitimate meal'? It didn't need to be bloody re-invented.

Is that bean juice?

I suppose if you drained the beans and used the juice (aqua faba) and whisked it a bit, it could give a bit more body to the sauce (although if you do a béchamel properly, you really don't need to) - but it doesn't need to be reinvented as a meal, it already is one, even if people with more income like to position it as an accompaniment.

I had to have a three tier electric steamer in my old kitchen in front of the kettle - there was exactly 120mm x 60mm space in the entire thing - couldn't open the oven door without walking in, shutting the door behind you and then standing to the side. I had to open the fridge door whilst standing in the hallway. The steamer was great, as the cauliflower wasn't wet and soggy, so I'd steam it, make the sauce and then stir them together. I think rosemary and breadcrumbs, along with Grand Pandano (as it's cheaper than Parmesan), especially the crusty rind bits, would work if you wanted crispy stuff on top. But white pepper complements it more than black - and then it doesn't look like burned toast crumbs/the tray from under a toaster.

And always use the leaves if you aren't making it from a bag of frozen. The difference in texture and taste makes a huge difference.

what IS the obsession with TV for her? she's clearly not good at it, she clearly has a number of things she is good at monetising so why bleeping drag yourself through it??

She has a core rabid audience of fans who will buy everything from cookbooks to photos, her books are hugely giftable to students/young people moving out so that's an evergreen revenue stream, she can make money writing articles/panel talks, she gets literally free cash from her begging bowls, affiliate links & if she cleaned up her act potential sponcon/influencer campaigns?

WHY pursue TV? She's so bad at it it'll actually damage her brand?

Because she is DESPERATE to be famous.
